First, kitty seems to be doing ok. She is still not eating much, but Dr B is working on it. She is the most loving kitty you can ever imagine, and I can't wait until I can bring her home.
Last year when I had to put Ashley to sleep people were amazed at how old she was and at Dallas' age. They kept asking me what I did to get them to live to be "so old." I never knew how to answer that question. Am I doing anything special? I didn't (and still don't) think so. I mean, all I do is water, feed, and love. Oh, yeah, if I feel they are sick I take them to the doctor. That's it. Isn't that what everyone does? Is there something specail there that makes them live longer?
And now with kitty. Everyone at the vets, and some of you here on-line, seem to think I am doing something really great. Now, I know there are people out there that could really care less about animals, but have I really done something so special? I don't think so. I would like to think that anyone else would do the same thing. Am I wrong in believing this way? Even if you couldn't keep the animal or afford to take it to the vet wouldn't you at the very least pick it up and take it to the animal shelter? Even if that was the only choice, and you had a fear that they may put the animal to sleep, isn't that better than it starving or getting hit by a car? Am I the only one to feel like this? Surely not.
Don't think I am special for taking in poor kitty. Just help me decide on a name!!!

But you ARE special! Most people would refuse to spend their hard-earned money on a scroungy little kitten. I do agree they would probably take it to an animal shelter....but you're giving it a HOME! That takes a lot of devotion and a big heart! I'm like you...I can't stand the thought of a helpless little kitten all alone in this big world! =)

p.s. I still like the name Phantom! =)
Yes, you've done something special here. Saving a life, even that of a kitten's, is something you can be proud of. Sadie is very much worth it. All of the little Sadies are.
I don't know how most people would react to a lone kitten on the side of the highway. I'd like to think they'd do as you did ... I know I would have. In a heartbeat.
2 yars ago we were going out of town and a kitten ran across the road in front of our car. Another car's tire caught the tip of her tail and stripped off all te fur and skin. I screamed at hubby to stop. He ran in front of cars to rescue it. It ran back across road and hid by our car's tire. I picked her up. She was bleeding but no cries. I got a towel from trunk and held her while hubby drove to find a vet.
We planned to just drop her off and leave. We already had 1 cat. Vet was nice but would not do anything unless we agree to pay. Well, she had captured our hearts already. We signed to pay for testing and tail amputation. We picked her up on Monday and she has been a blessing ever since. We put her in a wire cage near us and let other kitty get used to her smell and sight. They hissed and spat some but in time, they learnedto tolerate each other.
No, we did not feel we were doing anythingspecia and we have been so blesse by her little life. Her name is Scooter and we love her dearly.
Bless you for rescueing your ktty!
