I am back!

I know, I left at least one person hanging waiting for me to get back yesterday.  Sorry....

The NC National Guard has been called up for active duty.  They are going in to Iraq so some of the soliders there can rotate out for some well deserved R&R.  I know what I am about to say won't be popular, but here goes......I really think our government should at least think about bringing back the draft in some shape or form.  Why?  Because we are having to have our military everywhere (or so it seems), and whether you believe we should be where we are not, face facts, we are there.  Now we are having to call up reserves, and I know it is what they volunteered for, but it just doesn't seem right to be using them more and more like regular military.  With the NC  National Guard called up now it is starting to worry me a little.  Why?  The National Guard is supposed to protect us here (or so I thought) in cases of national emergency.  Granted we have only used them in floods, fires, during riots, but it is still here on American soil, and we need them, here.

And before you even say it, yes, I am a female past the drafting age, and no I don't have any kids that could be drafted.  Should women be drafted? I don't know.  But I do believe that in the world we are presently in I feel our military is streached too thin.

Ok, that is my polictial speach for the next year or so.  I try not to get into policital things here for many reasons.
