Found: kitten Needs: good home

As most of you know I had to put my beloved cat Ashley to sleep this past year.  I still have an 18 year old cat named Dallas.  I have been wondering if I should get another cat, or even a puppy, but about decided that Dallas may not take too kindly to another pet in the house at her age.  Then I joking told someone that if somehow a cat or dog found it's way into my life (without me going and looking for it) then I would probably keep it.

Guess what?  Driving home today I saw this little kitten beside the road.  I drove a few blocks, turned around and parked about 1/2 block away from where I saw the kitten.  I fully expected the kitty to run when I walked up to it.  Nope, it just sat there and looked up and me and meowed.  I can feel the ice melt a little off the old heart here.  You KNOW I couldn't just walk away.  So I picked it up and took it to my vet.  Dr. F says that the kitten looks to be about 2 1/2 months old, at least a pound underweight, and has a respiratory infection.  What do I do?  Dr. F says lets run a   leukemia test first to see if it is sick.  No, not sick.  Now what?  The respiratory infection is contagious to other cats so I can't bring the kitten home.  I left kitty at the vet to get cleaned up (it was so incredibly fifthy, and stunk!! whew) and to start the antibotics.  He said it could take several weeks before kitty isn't contagious anymore.  So, I have several choices to pick from.  First one and I can't afford it is to leave kitty at vet until she's 100%, but that's $11 a day.  Second, bring her home but keep her in a room to herself until she's ok.  I feel kinda guilty about how much time alone the kitty would have alone.  Third, find a foster home or perm home for said kitty.

Face the facts here.  I have already fallen in love with this kitty.  Even though she is NOT what I wanted in another cat.  I would like to have another siamease, if not at least a short haired cat.  Kitty is long haired and black (no siamese there.)

What should I do?  I did call the Humane Society, but they have a long waiting list.  I do like the kitty, she is so loving.....

I have a feeling that you may already know what to do. Lets face it, there's a reason the kitty was where is was when you found it, your loving heart took care to take it to a vet. My friend, that's your new kitty and I think you know it. Seems to me it was placed there for you. Best of luck.

I'm so glad you listened to your heart on this one! Things happen for a reason.
