In Loving Memory ........

November is Lung Cancer Awareness month.

I am not going to sit here and preach the dangers of smoking, of second hand smoke, or the use of any tobacco products.

I am going to use this time to bring your attention to, and to celebrate the life of a dear friend that died from lung cancer this year.  Most of you knew her,  and the rest of you probably at least knew of her.

On 4/16/06 my dear online friend Pamela lost her battle with lung cancer.  Losing such a great person at such a young age (she turned 50 years old 6 days before she died) was an incredible loss.  Not only to her "real" family, but those of us that were her "e-family".

On June 23, 2005 is when Pamela found out she had lung cancer.  Please go here and read how she shared the news with us here in  J-land  ---->>>>>>today

This is also from Pamela's journal:

i was diagnosed with lung cancer on 6/23/05 and now find myself on an amazing (never dull) journey to becoming cancer-free (the good Lord willin' of course!)  its been a rollercoaster of emotions, laughter mixed with tears of uncertainty .. but like the song says ..
"'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter"

Pamela was one brave woman.  She was so special and touched so many lives she will always live among us.

Thank goodness I did quit smoking.

We can all take her, and many like her, as an example, Cathy. Thank you.

iD LIKE TO READ THIS JOURNAL, MY DAD DIED 2 YEARS AGO FROM LUNG CANCER. IT WAS VERY TOUGH. I QUIT SMOKING ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE OF IT. NOW, WHEN I SEE, SMELL, SMOKE, I THINK CANCER. I THINK PAIN. I THINK SORROW. i THINK DEATH.. ITS WORTH QUITING. pEOPLE WILL SAY ITS MY LIFE, OR THAT ITS MY LUNGS. bUT THAT ISNT TRUE. yOUR LIFE EFFECTS OTHERS. yOUR DEATH HURTS OTHERS. ITS NOT EVER JUST ABOUT YOU.

What a lovely entry. I never knew Pam in J'land, until I realised others were writing about her sad and early death. I only joined J'land in March this year. But since then I have become a regular blogger and I have set up a new directory, which I know Pam used to do, to carry on the tradition that she started. Found your entry through CarnivAOL,
Kate.

She was a lovely lady right to the end,  never giving up.  I just feel that God must of needed someone special and called her home...all of us are better than we were before just for knowing her in Jland.  Sandi  http://journals.aol.com/sdoscher458/LifeIsFullOfSurprises
