It's friday!!!!! WOO HOO something fishy going on around here

Got a letter in the mail this morning from my medical doctor.  My blood test results.  One thing says my glucose is high but in the hand written part it says the sugar level is good.  So? Is it high or not?

Also said my triglycerides are high, not sure how high since they don't show what normal is.  But he (well probably the nurse) wrote out -- and highlighted -- for me to start taking fish oil 1000 mg 3 times a day.

Oh boy!  More pills to take!  LOL  I shouldn't complain.  At least this is over the counter and not all that expensive.  I got a bottle of 180 for about $8.00 at Kmart.

The school that burned down?  Well they canceled school for the rest of the week there.  LOL  That was a no brainer!  For whatever reasoning the NC government had, they had closed down the school for the deaf and it has been sitting empty so they are going to use it for classes for now.  It's going to take 2 years or longer to rebuild the school.  Guess when the voters go next week they should vote yes for those school bonds huh?  Glad it's not my district.

Had to turn on the heat just a little last night.  That is a biggie for me.  No it's not that I try to save on the heating bill, it's just that I don't usually get all that cold.  One tank of oil can usually get me through the winter with some left over.  Great huh?

Took mom yesterday to get her hearing aids.  But the time we got of the offices we were both really ill with the other.  It's a long story and you wouldn't understand unless you had gone through it with an aging parent (whom I am convinced has some early stages of dementia).  Any way she was convinced she would never be able to get the hearing aids in by herself and I could never help her because I didn't know how to do it either.

Today she managed to get them in but it took her 30 minutes or more to get it right (if they don't fit in the ear just right you won't be able to hear anything).  I told her I was so very proud of her.  And that it would get easier and faster as time goes on.  She will be able to pop them in without even thinking about it after awhile.  She still isn't convinced.

Know what I love about spell check?  How it highlighted the word trigylcerides but it didn't give me an option on how it should be spelled.  So if "it" can't tell me how it should be spelled, then how does it know that it's wrong?  Hmmmmm.........

Had no idea how big the graphics I am using today were until I got them uploaded.  I tried to shrink them some so you wouldn't have to wait until tomorrow before they loaded!

Your Triglyceride level should be between 0 and 149. Your glucose level may be a Hemoglobin A1c which is the "long term" or average sugar level for about the last 30 days. The Blood Sugar level would be your level at the time of the blood draw.
I'm tired of all the blood work I have. It seems that every time I turn around someone is sticking me again. If you lower your sugar intake and your carb (starch) intake it should help curb the blood sugar problem. Regards, Bill.

I am on the phone with a good friend of mine who just found out her blood levels were not good and she needs the next blood sugar test.  Did they recommend that to you?
By the way...I stole that graphic...lol!

A tank of oil all winter. Wow, it must be great to live in NC. LOL! Here, a tank every three weeks is a miracle. : )

Triglycerides (that's the correct spelling)  and glucose - were you given the actual figures (with units, such as milligram per ml)? WFHBEAR mentioned a unit of glucose measurements which are relevant to diabetics, as it shows the amount of glucose tied to haemoglobin. This is a measure of diabetic control. If it's high, it's not good, as it pre-disposes you to complications.

I have already turned my heat on too.  Strange for me also.

Did that fish oil stuff give you an upset stomach?  I've heard it does that to some people.  Take care of yourself, Kathy.  There aren't many good people left anymore....you need to be around for a long time.  Me?  Eh

I agree how can spell check highlight something but not give you the correct spelling. So sorry about your mom, I bet is gets hard to handle an aging parent. I hope you talk to the doctor and find out what's going on with your blood so you know. Have a great day.

I know all about dealing with an aging parent -- I totally understand what you're going through!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Those hearing aids are a pain...my sisters son has to wear them but I guess with a little practice, you do figure it out quickly. Spell check is intersting...Oprah is in it but not Saddam...lol....I guess that is personality winning over politics but I would rather it be just that way...I cant stand the cold....cant believe you can go throw a tank all winter....I wish I could..I have the heat on and Iam completely dressed with a jacket..lol....Glad to hear that your blood tests have no real big alarms.....-Raven

I relate totally to the struggles you mention.  My 85 year old mom has just moved in with my family and patience is the only thing that makes it work.  Kudos to you and all that try.
