Head's up everyone

Got a new email from AOL today telling me about this great new download that I "need".  I am always afraid I will download something that will mess everything up.  So I reached out to my buddy Deb who found the answer for me.

Don't know what I am talking about?  This is part of the email I got from AOL:

The Latest AOL Software Is Here

Introducing AOL® OpenRide™, the latest free software from AOL. It's designed to help broadband users do more online, quickly and easily -- simply put, it will revolutionize the way you use the Internet.

OpenRide is so much more than just a browser. Everything you need is right at your fingertips, so you won't waste time jumping from one window to the next. And it's absolutely free.
  • Breakthrough four-pane design keeps your favorite tools within easy reach
  • Time-saving browser with tabbed pages and thumbnail previews helps you find the open Web page you want faster
  • Email pane allows access to your AOL and non-AOL email accounts from one place, automatically, each time you sign in
  • Media Center is an all-in-one digital entertainment experience, conveniently bringing your broadband experience to life -- video, radio with XM®, photos, and more
Simply put, you've got to see it to believe it -- find out more at AOL Keyword: OpenRide.

Deb sent me a link to read about it:  http://blogs.zdnet.com/Orchant/?p=239
It basically says "that they don't tell you but they force you to download and install the AOL desk search program"  The article tells why you probably don't want this new download of AOL's.  So check it out before you decide to do anything. Ok?

Thanks for you help Deb!

I wouldn't download anything. AOL is taking up so much of my hard drive as it is. I don't have a large hard drive and every time they update the virus scan it gets smaller and smaller. I'll stick with what I have. Thanks for the information.
