Just got this in an email. Pass along if you want

Please watch this video done by a Florida Sheriff's Department. This is serious, not a joke. And I doubt if this is just a problem in Florida or the USA, so sending to my friends all over the world --

**I don't believe this to be a hoax.  It sounds and looks to be something that could really happen.  Even if it turns out not to be true it is still a good warning.**

Be nice to nurses!

A grumpy, overbearing office manager once had to spend a couple
of days in the hospital. He was a royal pain to the nurses,
bossing them around just like he did his employees. None of the
hospital staff wanted to have anything to do with him. The head
nurse was the only one who would stand up to him.

She walked into his room and announced, "I have to take your
temperature."

After complaining for a few minutes he finally settled down,
crossed his arms and opened his mouth.

"No, I'm sorry," the nurse said, "For this reading, I can't use
an oral thermometer."

This started another round of complaining, but eventually he
rolled over and bared his behind. After inserting the
thermometer, she said, "Now, I have to go get something. You stay
just like that until I get back!"

She left the door to his room open on her way out, and the man
cursed under his breath as he heard people walking past his door
snickering. After quite some time had passed, a doctor walked
into the room.

"What's going on here?" asked the doctor.

Angrily, the man answered, "What's the matter, Doc? haven't you
ever seen someone having their temperature taken before?"

After a pause, the doctor replied, "Yes... but never with a

DAFFODIL!"

Because he's half naked. LOL

I don't know.  It just seemed like the ladies of J-land (and some of you guys) might need to see a half naked man.  LOL  Now I could be wrong but something tells me most real cowboys don't look like this.  Sure they probably have some great muscles but I bet they don't look like this and I bet they wear shirts when working.  But we can dream right?

Last week on America's Next Top Model they did a photo shoot with Fabio.  Ok, the man has a nice looking body (from the neck down.  sorry.) and they did great touch ups on the photos of him on the front of romance novels, but I just don't see "it" in him in real life.  The girls were so nervous beening in a photo shoot with him.  And I guess I would have been too.  I mean the guy is famous and all.  But the way he was falling all over the girls in the photos.........I just don't see a drop dead, swoon over, kind of man when I see him.  Is it just me?

Some people say that Ted Bundy was the best looking serial killer dude.  I never saw that either.  I didn't think it was great looking.  Ok, he didn't "look" like the spooky bad man serial killer we all have pictured in our heads.  Most serial killers aren't "serial killer" looking.

Watched that show on TV last night.   Scientologist have this whole freaking alien thing going on.  I still don't see how it is called a "church".  They don't seem to worship a higher being.  It sounds more like an out of control self help group.   And the founder was a writer.  A guy that wrote science fiction.  I have never read any of his books but I am guessing he must be one heck of a writer.  But still........I love Stephen King books, have the all (well 99% of them) but if he were to suddenly write a book that was this new "religion"? I think I would run as hard as I could away from it -- and him (the man has a freaky mind.  you can't dispute that.  he is down right weird.  but wierd in a good kind of way.  LOL).

<FONTFACE="COMIC size="4" MS? Sans>Still trying to balance my checkbook.  I have got to get it done soon.  Time to start paying bills for November.  November!  Where has this year gone?  Time does take on wings the older you get.  I would have never believed it back when I was young and a summer day lasted for almost a week.  Remember those?

Hope everyone changed their clocks back last night.  Be sure you change your alarm clock if you haven't yet.

Had no idea this graphic was this big until I uploaded it.  Sorry

A link to links, my boring life, and Scientology KILLS

I will get all caught up soon.  Really I will.  And then you will have time to catch up with me.  I hope.  Anyways there's some more linkage over here  ----->>>Things to do Journal  I still have some sitting in my email.  Waiting......waiting for me to look at and then to post somewhere.  Don't forget that 99% of links posted here in One Summers Day will be posted over at Things to do Journal.  So bookmark that journal to keep going back to.  You will be sorry if you don't.  LOL

Today really feels like fall.  The wind is blowing, a chill is in the air.....Oh and don't forget to CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS today.  Yup time changes TONIGHT.  Set your clocks BACK 1 HOUR before you go to bed.  Don't forget.  You'll be an hour early for church if you don't.  LOL

My neighbors........even though they are rarely home I hope they will decide to move.  The other morning their water hose was stretched out in their driveway and part of the way into the street.  Yesterday morning found it laying in my front yard (where it still is by the way)  Heard them come home this AM at 3:15 A freaking M!  He then sits in his driveway to "gun" the engine for a little while.  Why?  He wants to make sure everyone knows he is home?  Do I look like I care?

I am more than ever convinced that mom is having some slight dementia.  It is nothing really bad and unless you know her or spend a lot of time around her you probably wouldn't pick up on it.  It bothers me just the same as if it were something major though.  I saw what it did to her sister and am not thrilled with how it could turn out.

Good thing though.  This upcoming week (I think it's this week, gosh I sure hope it is) mom gets to pick up her hearing aids.  I HOPE and PRAY that she will find themcomfortable enough to wear and that they WORK.  She is getting the ones that go behind your ear.  I think that will be easier for her to get used to and the specialist say that they really are better than those that go into the ear.

I just can't get thrilled on being online these past few days.  I have tried to get caught up with some journals and visit some new ones.  But the thrill just isn't here.  I loved collecting graphics to share with my group but that seems more of a chore than fun right now.  I have tried to find some new games online to get hooked on but I just get iritated and hit that red x.

I try not to hear much of the news.  It's just way to depressing.  And this news story is just horrible.  The story will be on CBS tonight at 10 PM on 48 Hours Mystery (or something like that.  check your listings).  A son (adult, but still young, like late teens early 20's) stabs his mom to death.  That is bad enough but the really horrible part is that it never had to have happened.  BUT they are Scientologist and don't believe in psychiatry.  Everyone knew the son was ill mentally.  But they don't believe in going to a shrink or (evil of evils!) taking  psychiatric drugs (oh the horror!).  Because he went untreated he got so mentally ill he ended up killing his mom.  He stabs her over 70 times!  You can read about it here:  Scientology - A Question of Faith, Did A Mother's Faith Contribute To Her Murder? - CBS News  Hope Tom Cruise is sleeping well tonight.

Sorry no graphics this entry.  Didn't even think of it until just now.  Oh well.......

Long story cut really short

I need my shrink to fill out some forms.  Two pages (just the front, not front and back).

I dropped off the forms at his office this morning.

Just got a call from his office.

He needs me to come in while he fills out the papers.

So I had to make a 30 minute appointment, to go and sit in his office while he fills out the papers.

He is not on my health insurance.  So I have to pay his whole fee.

It will cost me $140 to go in, sit and watch him fill out 2 pieces of paper.

You think your life sucks R?

I need something for the subject! Don't have anything. Darn

click on the graphic to see it full sized.

Howdy.  Today's graphics have nothing to do with anything and they aren't the least bit coordinated.  I just like them and wanted to use them.  The one above is from that Worth1000 site.

Went to see the new doctor today.  I think I am going to like this guy.  He's kind of young, kind of cute (in a doctor sort of way).  He seemed really nice.  I have to go back next week for blood work and to recheck my blood pressure.

My blood pressure was pretty high.  It could possibly be coming from the new med my shrink has me on.  If is coming from that then medical doctor wants me off of it.  We will just have to see.......so for now I have to take my blood pressure everyday until I go next week.  Today could have just been one of those days. So I'm not going to worry about it, yet.

Need a smooch?  ------------------->>>>>>>>>
LOL  ain't that cute?  And the thing with the ears!

I had an entry all planned out in my head (while waiting at the doctor's office) but it left about as fast as it came.  Maybe I will get it back and typed out sometime.  I am sure it would have made for a great entry.  LOL

I think Maggie will be ok with her new food (shh......the d-i-e-t stuff).  I put down some of the old and she wouldn't eat it.  I opened a can of the new and she started chowing down.  Great news!  'Cept for the cost.  Oh wellmy babies are worth it.

Stopped by Taco Bell after I left the doctor.  Not really what I wanted but I was starving.  Then went by the vets to buy some "Maggie food", stopped and got gas after that ($2.19 a gallon).  I don't go out much so I try to make lots of stops and get everything in.  Loved the chilly weather but it was a tad to windy for me today.

Gotta remember to tell you about some of the stuff I heard on the History Channel last night.  Aliens being "stationed" at the bottom of our oceans.......hey, you can't make this stuff up!

That's all for now.  Got other stuff I need to do.

Monday

This is my beloved Maggie.  I took a picture of her and tried to "scare" it up a bit.  This is what I ended up with.  Spooky?  The eyes are I think.  You can almost see the little devil jumping up and down in them! Oops, did I just see an ear twitch?

Maggie took a trip to the vet today.  No she isn't sick.  She really needed a nail trim.  She would lovingly clasp my hand in her front to paws only to leave a trail of blood behind! ouch!  LOL

She is packing on the weight.  I was afraid of that.  She's a whopping 10.3 pounds!  Hefty little girl!  So Dr H and I talked about her and a ::looking around to see where Maggie is::: different kind of cat food ::shhh.......it's d-i-e-t::: He gave me (err....sold me) a couple of cans for her to try.  Said most cats hate it and won't eat it.  Well either I starved my young'n today or she really liked it.  I will give her another day and if she keeps eating it then we will make the switch.

Animal Control came out last week and took my neighbor's dog.  (Now right up front I will tell you, if they came and took my baby I would go and it would be home with me the very next day.  Even if I had to sell my house.  That is just how I feel about my pets.)  Dog isn't home yet.  I wonder if they really wanted the dog, or if Animal Control found something terribly wrong and won't let them have it back.

Provide free mammograms! don't forget to click!

Tomorrow I go see my new medical doctor.  I am so sick of having to get new doctors.  I had one I loved.  Then my insurance changed and he wasn't on their list.  So I had to change to Dr R.  He is supposed to be one of the best in town.  I hated him.  Really.  I would have rather been sick and dying than go to him.

Then after a couple years my insurance changes again.  So I go back to the doctor that I loved.  Only to have him quit his practice 6 months later!  He quit to go to work at the hospital full time.  Maybe good for him but not so great for me.

He promised that he had helped to find his replacement and she was an excellent doctor.  HA  That's right HA I say.  The first visit with her I left in tears.  My dad's best friend had the same doctor so he wound up with her also.  He felt exactly the way I did about her.

I gave her one more visit.  I knew before I got out there that I would not be back to see her.  When I checked out they had a new poster up.  Another new doctor was joining the practice (there is about 10 doctors in this practice).  So I just opened my mouth and words starting falling out and I was saying something like "I want to switch to him.  NOW".  They said something like they have to talk to both doctors to be sure it's ok with the one I'm leaving (like I needed permission to LEAVE) and if he would accept a new patient (new doctor = guy needs patients right?)

I was so scared "the" doctor would call and want to know why I didn't ever want to grace her with my presence ever again.  But the only call I got was that I got in with the new guy.

So I go tomorrow.  Just the regular check up.  Not even any blood work (it's an afternoon appointment and I am not going to starve myself all day just "in case" he wants blood).  Hope it goes ok and that he has way better bedside manner than "she" did.

Weather is getting cooler.  I THINK time changes this upcoming weekend.  We are about a month away from Thanksgiving.  And that is just a month before Christmas.......me thinks winter might soon be coming.........

Glad everyone loved the links.  You know I have them all in another journal.........and I have more links in my emails that I need to load you down with.

Someone always asks where I get my links from.  Like I would give away my secret!  To be honest they mostly come to me.  I rarely have to go looking for some to share with you guys.  In other words, I have some pretty great sources!  :::eerie laugh here::

Got this in an email

I know NOTHING about this group or their endevor.  It sounds interesting so I thought I would share.  If you decide to buy something do so at your own risk.  Do your own investigating before sending any money to anyone. This is raising money to learn more about Canine Epilepsy .

As of today October 20th we have presold 457 calendars. and  we know
that there are  still checks  in the mail . I haven't had a chance to
update the list  of buyers on the calendar page of the web site. I
hope to do that tomorrow. For newcomers this is our big fund raiser of
the year. We are a 501(C)(3) Non profit organization  so any
donations  are tax deductible. If you don't want a calendar we will
also accept donations  :-) our non profit org goes under the name of
Epil-K9 Foundation Inc.

If we can make it to 500 calendars  we can order 50 extra and get
the high volume  discount. This is for such a very good cause .. We
are using all  of our profits  this  year  for the research being
done at North Carolina State University into why so many dogs need an
added drug on top of Phenobarbital to control  their seizures .

Their web site  is
http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/CarolinaEpilepsyProject.htm Many of
our list dogs are participating in this exciting research.

The amazing thing is  that several of the researchers are purchasing
calendars as well as donating !!!!!!!!!!!

Please go to http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/calendar.html  you can
view the calendar
and and find out  how to pay for it either via PayPal or by check
money order . We have many orders from Europe and Canada and several
from Australia, and of course the majority from the USA.

We still have money  in our donor advised fund at  AKC/CHF for the
next round  of donations to the University  of Minnesota who are part
of the consortium with the U of Missouri looking trying to find the
marker gene for inherited canine epilepsy. AKC matches us dollar for
dollar  the same as breed clubs.

North Carolina State will be also seeking a grant from AKC/CHF in
the near future.

Thanks to everyone who has donated money and bought calendars

Sunday and what is on Maggie's mind?

This is my baby Maggie.  Well she isn't really a baby she's a little over a year old (I think.  When you adopt from the animal shelter age is just a guess).  So even though I haven't had her as long as I have Sophie they are roughly the same age.

This is one of Maggie's great stares.  I wish I really knew what was going on behind those little eyes.  What she thinks, how she thinks.......

Today I think this is what she is trying to tell me "forget about it" , "don't sweat the small stuff mom" ,"if it ain't life and death then it's small stuff".  I guess she is right.  Something has been really bugging me and it's stupid.  Just right out stupid.  And to let it take up space in this crazy brain of mine is ridiculous.  Letting something so small take up residence in my crazy little brain is just stupid.  I could use that space for something else.  Something amazing.  Yeah, something amazing could take place in the tiny little bit of brain that I am "sweating the small stuff" with.

Yeah, well, that's what I THINK Maggie is thinking and trying to get me to realize.  I could be wrong.  Reading a cat's mind isn't the easiest thing to do.  Well sometimes it is.  I got the "feed me" and "clean my litter box" looks down great.

My dad is ok.  He came home from the hospital late Friday evening.  He has an inner ear infection.  That is why he was having dizzy spells.  About 2 weeks ago he went to the doctor and the doctor told him that he had an infection.  Here's some ear drops use them 4 times a day for a week (or whatever the time was).  My dad buys the ear drops and uses them maybe once a day -- if his ear is bothering him.  DUH??????????? See anything wrong with this picture? If he had used the drops the way the doctor told him he would never had the dizzy spells.  Would not have had to gone to the hosptial, had tons of tests run.  Men (well, my dad) can be so stupid sometimes. grrrrrrr

Have a great Sunday.

this isn't for anyone in my family. just something i wanted to share with someone

Daughter:  I miss you so much daddy.  I know you miss me too.  Could you write me how you are feeling?  Write me some good night notes?  I understand if you can't give them to me right now.  Just get a shoe box and start saving letters, cards, post it notes whatever you can put your hands on.  Keep me up to date with what is going on with your life.  Remind me that you love me.  Remember the good times over again with me.  I don't want to forget and am so afraid you will forget the great times we have had.  And the times we will have in the future.  Get some pretty colored post it notes and whenever you think about me write it down, date it and put it in the shoe box.  Take plenty of pictures (don't forget to write on the back the date and who the people are).
I know we will be back together soon.  I won't forget you and those good night kisses.  I know you won't forget me.  But it would be nice to know that you are thinking of me (even if I don't get the shoe box for years from now.)
And don't forget to tear that cartoon out of the newspaper, you know the one that reminded you of me. Oh and don't forget..........

Love ya daddy.  Take care of yourself for me.  I'm gonna need you when I get a little older.  You see there's this guy and he is like so cute! And Suzy said that Karen's brother heard that he thinks I'm cute!  So I'm gonna ask Brad to ask his sister to ask her friend Carol to ask her cousin Millie to try to find out if he really like, likes me........

It's Friday????

Just me.  I am starting to feel some better.  Doctor got me started on a new med yesterday.  I won't feel the effects for another 3 or 4 weeks.  But some of the sick feelings I have been having are evidently part of coming off the old med. Great.  I'll live.  Mostly I stay sick on my stomach and keep running to the bathroom.  Great side effects for coming OFF a medicine.  LOL

I want to get happy about the things going on in J-land, but I just can't seem to pull it off.  There is (or was) trick or treating through J-land, the VIVI awards, and they have nailed down a place for a J-land convention in March (?) of 2007.  All great things but I just can't get excited about anything these days.  I won't be going to the J-land Convention although it is fairly close and in a great place (Myrtle Beach, SC).

Lately I have been running into tons and tons of halloween graphics that I am pretty much over Halloween and it isn't even here yet!

After I got home from the doctor yesterday (feeling like I needed to die in order to feel better) I had to take mom to the hearing doctor.  Evidently dad had been sick and no one told me.  He had his friend take him to the ER while I was at the doctor.

So I take mom to get her hearing tested.  We had to be there by 1:30 pm and it was after 4 pm by the time we got out of there.  Good news is she will be getting hearing aids (thank God.  I am so tired of yelling at her), bad news is they are about $1,600 for ONE and you have TWO ears!  Not sure how it will get paid for but she will be getting them.  Even if I have to sell something!  LOL

Dad.  They kept him overnight at the hospital.  Something about his ear.  The older dad gets the more he talks in circles.  It sounds like he has an inner ear infection, but then again they may have saw something when they ran a test of some sort.  And dizziness can come before a stroke or something.  I swear that after I talk to him I know less than I did before I went into the first grade!  LOL  I think he's ok though.  I feel too bad to go and see for myself.  I know that sounds horrible of me.  But I feel horrible and I don't believe dad is all that sick.  If I thought he was I would have been to the hospital instead of just talking to him on the phone.  I am not that bad of a daughter.

Not much to say unless I go on a rant about health care, my own health and my next door neighbor.  And trust me don't want to hear about any of that.

Sick of Halloween I know.  But I love this tag:

Try to do this! Bet ya can't

This is so funny that it will boggle your mind.
And you will keep trying at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't.

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor
and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.

Your foot will change direction....
And there's nothing you can do about it!

So you want some more?

Proud to be American

Politics is something I rarely talk about.  And before I make this entry I will ask that if you want to go off on politics please don't do it here.  I don't want a political debate in my comments section.

I don't care if you "love to hate" or "hate to love" (or whatever) our President.  Everyone has their opinions on the man (past presidents included).  Personally I feel that if you took the time to vote during a presidential election then you have the right to gloat or gripe.  If you didn't vote then I think you shouldn't voice your opinion.

But that's not what this entry is to be about.  Nope.  Not at all.

President Bush was in North Carolina today speaking at a school and will later be making an appearance at the "Victory Junction Gang" (which is a wonderful organization for children.  Kyle Petty the NASCAR driver runs it).

What I wanted to comment about wasn't the speech, where it was held at or any of that.

My comment is about the protester's that were on the highway as the President's "motorcade" passed by and at the airport.   I think most were anti-Bush but that isn't what I want to remark on.  Nope.

What the heck are you getting at Kathy?  Bet that is what you are thinking.  What I am getting at is how great of a country that we live in that we can go out and protest -- pro or con, doesn't matter which way you want to go -- and you won't get arrested (well unless you do something totally stupid or outrageous).

How many countries in the world can you walk out into the streets and say what is on your mind without fearing that you will be killed or locked up?  Unless you threaten the President's life you can really pretty much say what you want here in the USA.  Have you ever thought about that?

How powerful that is? Now I know you can probably come up with something were someone got arrested or sued or whatever.  But generally speaking, as long as you are organized and peaceful you can stand on the street corner and say whatever you want about our government and you don't have to fear the government "coming to get you".

Isn't that great?  Don't see anyone in China or North Korea out picketing their governments.  In Iraq or Iran you would probably be killed.

So it doesn't matter if you love or hate the government.  You are still free to say what is on your mind.  I think that is great.

I may not agree with you, but what's the saying "I'll fight for your freedom to say it"? That's pretty cool.

got this in an email. don't know who wrote it

"A DOG'S LIFE---FROM THE EYES OF A 4 YR. OLD"

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten- year old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his  wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to  Belker and they were       hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told  the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to  perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought  it would be good for the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as  Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the  old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he really understood  what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully  away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without  any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering  aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human  lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth  next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to  live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being  nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know  how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply, Speak kindly.  Leave the rest to God.

something funny for you. it's big so if you are dial up it may take a sec to load

last sad entry. no more after this. don't want to take you out of your comfort zone.

Sorry Russ that I put up something you can't compete in.  It is going to take me forever to do it myself.  I am going to have to print it out and grab a Bible to be able to do the whole thing I'm sure.

No I'm not better.  Woke up crying.  I am telling you that some of you just don't understand what it is like to be clinical depressed or to be bipolar and not be on any meds.  It is the worse thing you can go through.  You just want it over.  You just want to die.  It is horrible.  It is not a "passing" thing.  It is not something you will just "get over".  It is something that if you aren't careful enough will kill you.  Or leave you crazy enough to have to be locked up.

If you have never suffered through it you won't know and you won't understand.  Mental illness is painful.  Very painful.  I could sit her and pick nothing but funny and fluffy stuff up and you would never know what I am going through.  You would if you had face to face contact with me.  I could hide it very well on line, and have hidden it before.  This time I thought I would share so that maybe someone else who was going through it would know they aren't alone.

But I guess it was a bad idea to share.  You don't understand and you don't get it.  So I will try my very best not to mention it again.  I will find funny and fluffy stuff to take up all the empty spaces in my journal.  That will make most of you more comfortable I am sure.

Kathy

ps will try to stay away from religion for those that might feel offened or whatever.  i'll find another place for that stuff.
