Adding Music to your Journal

I have had several people write or leave comments on how they add music to their journals.  I have not tried any of these.  But I am making a post here (so I can refer to it in my Help Journal) showing several of the ways I have been told.

If you are brave and try to use any of these methods please leave a comment saying which worked for you or if you are still clueless.  Ok?

Stuart's instructions:

1. Load your music up on to the web - say your FTP space

2. Go to the edit option of the entry (or the ABOUT ME section)choose html

3. Here is the code you use

<IMG height=1 loop=infinite dynsrc=
http://www.cnetwork.co.uk/ALMSGIVE.MID width=1 autostart="true">

The bold red text is the source file. Height and width are 1 because you don't want anything to be visible.  loop=inifinite means it will play on and on and on..........change it to a number if you prefer. Like 1 or 10 or whatever. dynsrc is the htm command to download the source file and autostart = true is self explanatory I hope.

So just copy the above code and replace the red with the actual location of the music you want to play.

Just remember the bigger the file the longer the delay before the music loads and plays.

Astra's way:

First of all...go to "keyword" type "FTP" and click "my FTP space" where you have to register first...FREE. just follow instructions from there, it is straight forward...if anyone gets stuck i don't mind helping...when i got to CD or MP3, i clicked CD for the full music

This is the link below in the block to put in "all about me" section. go to  "view as" on the left of the screen, then click on "text" and then click "HTML" and insert the link below, but remember to put your own screen name and the name of the music you want uploaded ( must upload to FTP first )
I do hope this is of some help!

<img dynsrc="
http://members.aol.com/YOUR SCREEN NAME/REMOTE FILE NAME.mp3" autostart="true" loop="infinite" width="1" height="1">
<b STYLE="font-family: tahoma; font-size: 10px; position: absolute; top: 130; left: 150;">~~Music by www.i-petz.com~~</b>

ok here you go...  try this.  Upload the midi file to file manager.  Not in the image folder you may have but the first screen

Once it is uploaded go to the about me section.  Change the format to say html not text
and paste this code..

<IMG height=1 loop=false dynsrc=http://members.aol.com/USERNAMEOFFILEMANAGER/NAMEOFSONGEXACTLYwidth=1 autostart="true">

This is the code from mine
<IMG height=1 loop=false dynsrc=http://members.aol.com/nightmaremom/helplesslyhoping.mp3 width=1 autostart="true">

Once you have select save.  It will do the rest.  It may take a few minutes to play but it will :)

other tidbits sent by Sugar that came from Nightmaremom:

Upload the mp3 file to file manager.  You don't want it to large as it will slow the loading of the journal.  I went with about 2 minutes long.  Once the file is uploaded.  Go to about me and edit.  In HTML mode paste in the following code.  Then click save.  The file name has to be exactly as it is in the file manager.

<IMG height=1 loop=false dynsrc=http://members.aol.com/username/Filenamewidth=1 autostart="true">

also shared by Sugar (not sure who she got this one from)

1.  Go into your journal entry (blank one), and before you do anything change the "Text" box at the top to "HTML".

2.  Then click into the  journal entry you are doing.

3.  Now, I am assuming you saved the music you want to your ftp space right?  If not, go to keyword:  "My FTP" and then "See My FTP" space.  Once there you hit "Upload" and then name your file.  VERY IMPORTANT, always name your file with .mp3 after the name, such as bonjovi.mp3.  Then hit "Continue".  It will bring you to a screen where you can "Select" or find your music you want to upload.  Find the music and double click it.  Then hit "Send" and it should start uploading.  Once done, you can move on to the next step.  It may take at the longest with cable modem or broadband 5-7 minutes.

4.  Okay, you are still in the "HTML" area and you are in the entry section.  You need to paste this code EXACTLY as I have it(except change my "pookyluvsu" to your name and change the name of the song to whatever you named it).  I have highlighted the ONLY thing you need to change in this code.  EVERYTHING listed here HAS to be put in, so just copy it ALL, including the < and the > part:

<IMG height=1 loop=false dynsrc=http://www.members.aol.com/pookyluvsu/bonjovi.mp3 width=1 autostart="true"></FONT><FONT face="Arial Narrow">&nbsp;</FONT></FONT></FONT>
or you can use  .mid for music instead of  .mp3!

5.  Okay, once you have done this, you go back to the "HTML" box and click it to "Text".  You should hear your song start immediately, or it may take a few seconds because of the upload.  Then start typing as you normally would in your entry.

6.  If you have any other questions, let me know.  It really is easy, as long as you upload the song to your FTP space AND use the code that is exactly as it is above.  Good luck!

extra tip from nightmaremom:

I think the trouble is when they upload to ftp site it doesn't put the ext on it.. so it says name of song.   The code however has nameofsong.mp3.  Once they upload they have to make sure the file name is exact as the code, including .mp3 so it has to be renamed

Let me know how this works for you guys!

None of these worked for me the first one is a UK source and I never got ti to work in mine. the others I dont know why she said you had to sign in FTP I have never signed up on FTPI just type in MYFTPSPACE inthe tool bar. but you have to down load music as an MP3 into your music file then load it into your ftp then you can copy and paste a code into your journal in HTML. if you want a WHOLE song it will be more than 2 mins. if you do a two min song you will miss part of it. I have never gotten any of these to work that are in here suggested. The one way I have been using for two years now is the ONLY way I can get music in my journal. I must have to have stuff very simple lol I notice you dont have music in your Journal so if want I ll send you the instructions I made up for getting music into FTP (there isa code for that too) and into your Jouranl

Hi Kathy :-) I'm going to nominate you ~ sorry suggest you lol, must get it right!!! If it wasn't for instructions like these I'd be clueless about adding music. Mind you I haven't actually tried any of them yet!! It took me ages to work out how to put graphics on lol :-)
