I have been trying to back up all my photos and graphics on a cd. I have done this before with no problem whatsoever. But not today. Nope not today.
First I get a message that the cd is too full. Ok, I erase the cd. Then when I try to save I get a message that there isn't enough room on the cd for all my photos and graphics. Well I find this hard to believe. But I guess it could be possible. So then I decide to start putting things on the cd one folder at a time.
Things were going good and then I got some weird message saying there was something wrong with the file and it couldn't write it to the cd. I skip over that folder go on to something else and come back to it later and it will copy just fine. I am not even half way through my graphics and I get that "cd is full" message again. I so find that hard to believe. So I have pulled out another cd and am slowly adding one folder at a time to the cd. At this rate I will be doing it forever and a day. LOL
I thought the cd's were supposed to hold a massive amount of data and graphics. The cd's I am using ae supposed to hold 700MB. Either that isn't as much as I thought it would be, my cd's are screwed up and I need new ones, or -- the horror of horrors -- I have THAT massive amount of graphics? Boy if I do I guess I should get some of them off the hard drive. What do you guys think? How many cd's full of graphics is too many? How many should I keep on the hard drive?

I haven't a clue, Kathy. I try to pay attention to people who know more than me..so will pay attention to what you said here. Not too far back I opened a new CD and tried to put my story on it. Got the same messages you did. It is sooo easy to lose my patience when working with this kind of stuff. Will try again though. I don't want to wind up with nothing. Need to purchase new CD's . Added it to list posted on computer board. Now if I can just remember to use them when I get them home. lol {{{Kathy}}} *Barb*
MaMa said there would be days like this! HEHEHEHE
I had this problem at work. Our stupid computer programer would tell me to reformat the CD's and everything would work. Of course when they didn't do what he said I would just get mad and cuss the programmer out and throw the CD away. I got a new set of CD's and formated them and so far fingers crossed they are working.

One thing to remember is that different types of files, even though they LOOK the same, store differently. I think .BMP pictures take up something 10 times the amount of space as a .JPG picture. Also, animation might take up a lot, or sound recordings or stuff like that. But bravo for backing up!!
Right click on the foldrs you are adding and take a look at the properties to get the size of the file. You might be surprised. There is no way I can get my photos for this year onto a CD the folder is way too large.
ps how do you do your snazzy background??

OH man I had one of those days TUeSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all did here yesterday. Too much to tell here but nothting went wright then again it did but i ll explain in my journal later. I love the graphics. they fit so well. Lori
I did that the other day and i was surprised to find that pictures are big files! It took 2 cds and that was only 3 months worth of pictures! OH MY!!
LOL... wellllllll.... considering you seem to have a graphic for EVERY occasion, my guess is that you really might have that many graphics. LOL Nahh.. more likely, you might have a glitch in the system or with your burner/software. Maybe the CD you were using had some read only type material on it too, unerasable stuff?
Anyway.. this is a good reminder. My computer is running slow from all the photos I have stored here. It's definitely time to back-up again. :)
Don't forget that CD stands for 'Completely Disruptive' and that 700MB is an awful lot of Might Buffalos. This is as far as this man's technology goes I'm afraid.
Mighty Buffalos - can't even get the joke right.
I have had days like that. Sometimes CDs work perfectly other times you just want to turn them in to a coaster.
I love, love, love the graphic!

Wow, I thought this would be much easier, but from reading your description, it sounds difficult. -Krissy
