Just logged on and read your comments from my last entry. Love the well wishes, and Andi thanks for scaring the living daylights out of me.
My surgery is set for April 25th. That's a Wednesday, I go the Monday before to see the doctor again and to go for all the pre-op stuff at the hospital. It is going to be outpatient surgery but I am happy to be at this specific hospital for the surgery.
Did you know that having huge tonsils can interfer with your sleeping? No wonder I haven't slept good in ages. Big tonsils can also cause sleep apena -- which can cause you to stop breathing. That's not saying my big old tonsils are going to kill me, but if the possiblity is there that I could stop breathing for a second sometime in life I think yanking the buggers out is something I should do.
I'm going to clean out my freezer this coming week and stock it with tons and tons of ice cream. I need to check with the doctor about maybe getting some pudding or something other than ice cream. And I gotta ask about my meds -- how hard it will be to swallow them, etc......
I don't know what I am going to do after the surgery. Orginally I had planned to come home and have dad help get me settled in. I have also thought of going to my parents house for at least the first day maybe 2. But I don't know how that will work out. My mom is in no condition to wait on me and you know that is what she will try to do. My nerves are already a wreak and my parents seems to know how to make them worse.
And then there are my babies. Maggie and Sophie. I know that dad would come feed them and poop the litter box...........but they would miss me (well they would!!!)
Oh, my parents got robbed the other night. Someone broke into there shed and stole some of my dad's work working stuff and an air compressor. Ain't life grand?
Kathy
ps thanks for the links deb. i'll check them out.

You can have jello too! *ick* but hey, it's sustenance. Too bad about your dad's shed ... wish there was something really good that could be said about that.
You're brave and I'll be thinking of you 'on the day'.
Hey here's what I did when I had trouble swallowing my meds after surgery: Just put the pill on a spoonful of yogurt, it'll all go down together, you won't even know you took a pill. Also, yogurt is better for adult tonsellectomies than ice cream and FAR more soothing and healthy. Pudding, too. Just spoon some out, put the pill on it, and swallow. Easy! I had mine out, but at 12 (just last week lol). Don't get the willies Kath, it's a quick, common procedure and sounds like you're going where you'll feel confident. Relax and let yourself be pampered, you'll be fine! But you'll have to stay quiet a few days, that's all. You can do that, right? lol Also, there's no heavy "recuperation" you can walk around, do everything you always do, just try not to talk for however long the doc says. I'll be thinking of you on the 25th! xoxoxoxo

You could get one of those pill crushers from the drugstore. I can't swallow even aspirins. Never could swallow pills. Dunno why.
I think you can have pudding and jello. Anything cold that's easy to go down. Ask him for sure.
Sorry about your mom and dad's house getting robbed. geez.
Keep you in my prayers.
Love,
Angela

Wow, got a little but going on, do ya?
Hang tough, the surgery will go well. It has to; there are too many well-wishers around these parts for it to go any other way!
Good luck with that. And don't stress too much about it, it'll be all good.
Jimmy
Good luck with the surgery. My Doc talked of taking my tonsils out because I always get Strep Throat. You'll be alright. Make sure your ice cream has NO nuts!
Pam
The docs will probably order liquid meds for the first couple of days so your throat can heal. I'll be thinking of you on the 25th!!
Missie
There are liquid forms of many meds. Icecream is useful to have in, as is yoghurt.
Ooohy, I've had my tonsils out too. good luck. Have a great week! love ya, Shelly
Good Luck sweetie!!!!! Please make sure you have everything you need and drink water until you can't drink any more. The swallowing action hurts but it helps and it keeps you hydrated. Do not let your throat dry out. Trust me on that one, the pain will wake you up!!!!
You're going to be OK and you are prepared. Hang in there it will be a bumpy ride.
Hugs and much love!!!
Deb
Hope your surgery goes well.
Kathy,
