Food

I have been watching a LOT of the Food Network lately.  I don't know why.  I don't cook.  But I've been watching all these cooking shows and now I want food that I would never eat.  LOL  I have also seen a few things that I know I could make.  At least I think I can.  Here are 3 things (sweets) that I know with just a little patience I could do.

chocolate covered gummy bears  -- the Food Network did a show on a store that makes and sells these in a store and online.  how hard could it be?  melt some chocolate, let it cool just a tad and dip gummy bears in it.  that looks like all they were doing.

chocolate covered marshmellows -- same basic story as above.  how difficult can it be?  getting the chocolate to cool but not cold so you don't melt the marshmellow, but still how difficult can it be?

3  i've watched them melt chocolate.  boil a pot of water, sit another pot (or large bowl) on top and the chocolate will slowly melt.  DON'T let the water in the bottom pot touch the bottom of the top pot or the chocolate will burn.  sounds easy enough

4  now i know i can do this:  take some cookies (they used Nutter Butters) and put in a blender.  mix until crumbs.  put crumbs out on a cookie sheet.  get some of the small Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and take the paper off them.  Now --- last ingredient take some softened ice cream --- scoop out a big scoop of ice cream, while ice cream is still in the scoop take a peanut butter cup and push into the ice cream towards the center of the scoop.  take a knife (or whatever) and put some ice cream over where you pushed the peanut butter cup in.  put the scoop of ice cream in tray of cookie crumbs and roll around to get crumbs all over the ice cream.  place in freezer for ice cream to harden back up.  doesn't that sound yummy?

Even the way they mix up hamburgers has gotten me wanting to cook some.  But alas my really tiny kitchen and the lack of most food products keeps me from trying much of anything.  If it comes out of a can or box I can do it.  Most of the time.  LOL

get you a Hershey bar, put it on a plate and pop it in the microwave for a few seconds until melted. Man that's good! Tammy

That sure sounds good.  I know at my home we don't go through all the fuss to make something so simple.  Some things are just as easy to buy.  :)

I think you should try to do the simple things you are interested in Kathy :)  it's fun, it occupies the mind - it helps lessen my depression issues, you know?  It is soothing... even just the little things :) Go for it!! Hugz, Teresa

Hey! I have finally found someone who watches to Food Network and cooks like I do! I'm amazed. My only non-box standby is to simmer chicken breasts in water with rosemary and basil(fron cans, not fresh), than chop for chicken salad of into strips to dip into somesort of sauce. Margo

I hate watching Food Network during the holidays because they will dedicate a whole week to one theme.  I like to watch all different kinds of cooking while I sit and eat Dorito's.
