test not great, and my fishies

I am glad those of you that could see the video in my last entry liked it.  For those of you that haven't been able to see it, I never saw it either.  I gave up on waiting for it to load, just takes too long on dial up so I am going to make it go away.

Stuart it was supposed to be a video of this really bad singer that didn't make the cut on American Idol (I think England has a verson, a singing talent show) but for some reason people liked this guy.  He was so bad but with so much confidence that people loved him.

Fishies:

Help!!!!  All my fish are STILL alive (well, one died but he didn't make the first 24 hours so I don't count him).  But in an effort to make sure they get plently to eat I have overfed.  I have a "bottom feeder" but he just sticks to the sides of the tank and ain't cleaning up the food on the bottom from my overfeeding.  I know that I can't leave the "extra" food just lying in the bottom.  It will rot or something, right?  And then make my fish sick.

The video that came with my set up showed this vacumn thingy to clean the bottom.  Didn't know one of those existed, and I will check into buying (?) one Monday.  But is there another way to clean up the extra food?  Without cleaning the entire tank out?  I really don't want to do that if I don't have to.

And just how much is enough food?  The container says to feed twice a day and not to over feed.  I would rather be told "hey, dummy, give them ___teaspoons of food twice a day" than not just "don't over feed".

And to John that wanted to eat the fish rather than to watch them: Shame on you!  These little things are to bring me joy.  That is if I can learn how to take care of them.

I promise a new entry soon about something other than Sadie or my fish.  Really.  I know you are sick of hearing about Sadie.

Kathy

GIVE A PINCH AT A TIME. USE A NET TO SCOOP UP SOME OF THE EXTRA STUFF. STIR UP THE WATER AND SCOOP IT OUT. WHAT KIND OF FILTER DO YOU HAVE?

I enjoy reading your journal no matter what you write... I am fascinated by the subjects and I learn as well.

No teaspoons..... more like pinches. Usually you feed no more that the fish can consume in five minutes of so. Good luck and check out the web for info. judi :)

Kathy, afraid I can't ask you to join my RealityTV Club-- Pop Idol was a huge success in England before it came to America as American Idol-- (and around 20 other countries too)  We get many recycled versions of their shows.

I think it's cool that you're making so many friends "across the pond"! (UK)

Thanks for so many nice comments in my journal! :-)  Albert

My brother used to be an aquarium enthusiast, both freshwater and marine.  I assume that your tank is a freshwater one and that your fishies are not big, about the size of guppies.  I asked him about this, and he said 6 fishies is the most you should have in the aquarium.

You should also feed them no more than a pinch of fish food a day; sounds like a little but that's enough because they feed on the parasites in the aquarium.  Once a week, change 10% of the water in the tank.  Take 10% of the water from the gravel level and try to siphon out some of the detritus as you do that by stirring it up a bit.  Hope that helps.
