House payments

Great day. Well, not great but not bad. I could not find my house payment coupon book. It is here I know it is, but I go to the bank. This is not the place where I orginally got my mortage. I had it at a place that NEVER sells their loans. I liked that. That is why I went there. After a couple of years, guess what they did? Yep, sold off most all their loans. Now I am at a bank that I don't like. Never have and after today still don't. At the bank I had to wait forever for help. When I finally get help I tell her my problem and that I decided to just go ahead and have my payments drafted out of my checking account. She asks for my social security number. I give it. Then she says "you don't have a checking account with us". "That's right." "we can't draft a checking account that isn't with us". "Yes you can." I then get a blank stare. "You tried to get me to do it before." "I'll have to ask someone" more waiting. Nobody seemed to know if you can do it. While getting a draft card out of her desk "I will have to call downtown and see what they say." Ok. What is that card for if not to do transfers with? "Yes we can do it." Told ya. "The computer says you have a payment due the first of June." "well, it is wrong. I am a month ahead. I have always been a month ahead." "That's not what it says here. Do you want me to call the mortgage dept. to find out what they have to say?" "Yes" Well, duh lady. Where did my extra payment go? Am I supposed to just forget it? "It seems that in August of 2002 they took your payment that is a month ahead and put it all towards the principle of your loan." "That is a good thing you know" "Might have been a good thing, but I did NOT tell them to do that. I was staying ahead in my payments for a reason." "Well that is what they did." "But I did not tell them to do it. So why did they do it?" "Do you want me to see if they can back it out and make into your June payment?" "Yes. That would be nice. It was supposed to be a payment anyway." What the? On the little coupons you send in with your payment it asks you what is payment and what amount you want to put towards the principle of the loan. Did I tell them to take an entire payment and put towards the principle? If I hadn't misplaced my coupon book I would have never known what they had done. What if I thought I was ahead and decided to skip a payment? Oh, one more. "Your payment is due on the first, but not past due until the 15th." "That's right" "So when do you wantit drafted?""It's due on the FIRST so why don't we go with that?" Now I ask you J-land folk, why would I want to be constantly "late" with my mortage payment? Sure it may not be "past due" but if I want to sell and get another house some day would that not look BAD on me?

The stupidity of some people.  Was she Blonde?  If not she was sure having a blonde moment today!  I don't mean that to disrespect anyone, but it was the best analogy I could come up with.  So did they straighten out your payments?  Are you now still one month ahead?
My finace is the one that takes care of our bills-since I am in school right now.  I keep telling him to pay enough to where it will eventually get us one month ahead, so it will look good for us plus keep us on time with everything.  He just doesn't seem to get it through his head!
