Hanging on

There is this lady at church that has been on the prayer list forever (or so it seems).  By all rights she should be dead.  I don't know all of what is wrong with her but listen to this:

As of this past Sunday she has not had any food, liquids, not even an IV.  They have been giving her morphine to keep her comfortable.  I am sure that when her family took out the IV's and all they thought she would soon pass.  But she hasn't.

Of course I don't think she knows she is still in this world.  But it is so weird. Everytime I would see Gary (my pastor) he would say that she would soon pass.  Then when she didn't he would say that there was no way she would be here another day or two.

This lady just won't die.  I don't mean that to sound mean or like I am making fun of her.  It is just the truth.  I wonder why she keeps hanging on.  I have heard (on tv) that sometimes people that are dying will manage to hang on until their birthday, or someone else's big day or even until someone had a chance to get to town to say good bye.

I wonder if people can really hang on like that or if it is just a coindence?  If some people can I wonder if that is what this lady is doing.  Or maybe it is God waiting for something to happen?

I never knew why my grandmother hung on ......... She could have given up the ghost for days. But Just 15mintues after I told her it was Okay to go and be free and we would be fine. She died. Sometimes they are waiting for the okay from family. To speak it to say it to them if htey want want to go they can. Lori

People can fool you. just when you think it is the end they come back. Yes I believe that people will hold on for some unknown reason just likeI believe if they are ready to go they will.

My friend was telling me that her grandmother hung on until all her kids were at the hospital.  They came from all over the US.  When her last child arrived and had them all in the same room, she told them that she would see them later, and died.  Her final wish was to have her family together one more time.  ~Holly

It's all in God's hands and in His time...unfinished business.

My Granny, who died a couple of years ago, seemed to hang on int he same way.  About 5 minutes after the last family member got there, she peacefully took her last breathe!

I believe that the time we die is one of those mysteries we are not meant to really understand--how some people die so quickly and others linger unexpectedly.  My father's passing was more the lingering kind, and there were many times I didn't understand why things were happening the way they did... --Albert
