Is it just a movie?

So there is this new movie coming out.  Looks kind of interesting --  the promos and all.  Then I hear something about it on the Glenn Beck show (on CNN? he's on one of the news networks I just can't remember which.) about atheists and I'm all like huh?

So I have finally looked it up on the internet.  I have some links for you if you want to read about it.   The first link I feel good about it being truthful.  Instead of picking a random second link I will give you the link to the search page and you can check into it more if you would like.

Urban Legends Reference Pages: The Golden Compass

AOL Search results for "the golden compass"

I'm not going to "preach" on wheter this movie is trying to convert us all or if it's just a movie and you can or leave it.  I just don't know what I think about it.

I will say I never understood all the church hoopla over Harry Potter.  I have read the books and seen some of the movies and I honestly don't see anything wrong with them.  Of course this new movie is supposedly something else.

I've read the three books.
Start well go down hill and aren't all that great.
Confused to say the least.
As usual a lot of talk about not very much............fantasy kids books.......

Heard about the controversy a little while back, relayed it on Northern Trip and let people make up their own mind. Think it's a storm in a teacup to be honest.

I always enjoyed Harry Potter myself and saw nothing that was glorifying the devil.  My Nicci want to see this movie.

From a Christain perspective I really don't want to see the movie.  I don't movie much anyway, but I've heard a lot of negatives about it.  I read the Harry Potter books, they promoted good over evil and I see that as a good thing.  'On Ya' -ma

I want to see it just to spite the crazy religious freaks who support censorship.

What I have to say to 'them' is:  OH!  For Crying Out Loud.  It's a movie.  For entertainment.  Ya' know?

I loved Harry Potter but I also believe that we have to be very careful of what we watch.

As kids we were told *You are what you eat*

I believe that we actually are everything we put into our bodies, minds and spirits.

That's not to say we shouldn't watch the movie, just that we shouldn't let someone else's thoughts become our own.  We all have to make up our own minds.
