Mom is all: It's Communism I tell ya! Communism!
Ok, where the heck does she get Communism? When was the last time you even heard that word used?
Is mom's aging mind going looped-de-loop? She has come up with the wierdest stuff lately but doing away with analog tv is Communism? LOL
I love my mom dearly. But I told her that was crazy, I don't think the Russians have anything to do with our tv sets.
So what do you think? Is my mom right? And exactly when am I going to have to spend $$$$ on a new tv? (secretly......I am looking for a great excuse to buy a flat screen.......)

I don't know about analog tv being communism, but get Hillary in office and it WILL be socialism, and isn't socialism communism???
Same is happening in the UK, Kathy - they've started switching off analogue signals in one area, and they're continuing up and down the country for the next 4 years.
Don't know if mom is right or not...but I do remember seeing a Seinfeld episode about communism!!

LOL! Your mom reminds me of my mom. Anybody who has a big house and nice things are in the Mafia. "Normal people don't make that much money," she says. She gets it from my grandmother. She used to say that everyone who was skinny had "a worm."
Oh dear, I think we may be cousins! But my father would be your mother's brother. LOL
You don't necessarily have to get a new HD TV, you MAY be able to buy a converter running between 150 - 200.00 (or so I'm told).
I haven't bothered to research it yet. I'll let the hubby handle this problem. I did the childbearing -- he gets all the problems for the rest of my life! LOL
In response to one of your commenters: Hillary will be the next president. Deal with it.
Secondly... you just have to buy a converter box and it will cost about 75 bucks. The government will held defray some of it.

most of our channels on sattelite are hd enhanced or are going to be very soon...I think that analog TVs will be gone in less then two years...they are just not set up for the technology...

I think mom means it is communism in that you will be forced to by a new TV or a box.....no choice. No choice is part of a communistic society. ;o) Right on MOM!!! - Barbara
That's so funny! Sometimes to be funny Thomas will say something "sounds like a communistic plot!", but he doesn't really mean it!
