This month (or maybe it's next, but I'm thinking this month) is an AOL J-land anniversary. Three years!!!!!
Were you here when AOL gave us this:
They gave us one for year two but I can't find it right now. Bummer I know.
This year without the driving force of some "old" J-landers I guess the anniversary will be passing (or has past) without any WOO HOO.
We lost our beloved Pamela early this year to cancer. She was one of the very first AOL members to journal. Vivian who made the 1st anniversary something to remember has left J-land and blogging altogether I think. Gregg and SloMo have dropped off the face of the earth. Others that where here in the begining have left -- oh I know some like me are still here. I have just named those that were really into the anniversary happenings in the past.
No awards this year probably. Gregg, Vivian and Patrick tended to that in the past and they have left. Even if they were here don't know if they would want to take that undertaking again. It was a lot of work with a lot of complaints. You just can't please everyone you know.
When did you join J-land? Were you here for the first anniversary blow out we had? Here for year 2's little party?
I know I don't have the dates right, but I do know it was sometime in July/August that AOL Journals went live 3 years ago this year. And believe me they have came a long way!!!!!! If you are new here you would not believe what we had to work with in the beginning!
Take care. reminisce on your time here in J-land. The folks that have touched your life. The ones that are still here and those that have left.

Kath~I went to the 2 year on-line party. (My actual 2 years will be coming in January 07) What a shame there's no one to do something for #3. Want to see if maybe we could at least orgainzie some kind of J-Land chat for late August? Blessings, Sassy
OK comment #2 of what I forgot in #1! 1. Congratulations!!!!! 2. I miss Pam real bad; I still use her hints and tips website. 3. I miss Vivian too. 4.We lost a lot of J-Landers to the dang "ad-crisis" (sort of like the J-Land vs. BlogSpace War) Remember Judith Heartsong? Dang, I miss those essays and her wonderful art even though she is right next door--it's still not J-Land) TG Carly and Karen are still doing the Round Robin; I was so happy when that started up again. 5. I just want to put in a plug for Krissy (FisherKristina) with her weekly photo challenge and Monday morning question, Val (valphish) with her weekly word game and Sugar with her Furry Freinds journal and prayer journals. All three of these ladies are great participators and supporters of JLand, just to name a few! Sorry I am too lazy to include the links, but I will get them! xox Sassy

Time goes fast when you're having fun. I really like my Journal and those I have come to know from theirs. My Regards, Bill.
thats so sad u lost your beloved pamela its so great u can writ about your summer
Three years next month! Things have gone from basic to snazzy... there have been friendships made and lost ... political arguments ... religious arguments ... neighborhood disputes and more. Mostly, though, I think you'd agree, J-land has been a wonderful place to hang out and meet new friends -- experiencing life in a bit of a different way. I'll be here three years in October. Wow. They went fast!
{{{{{Kathy}}}}},
I've been thinking a lot about the upcoming 3rd anniversary of AOL Journals for a few weeks now. I always think of it in terms of when journals went into Beta testing and when journals went live. Beta testing started late July 2003 and then went live August 2003. I have the dates burried somewhere within my original journal. I believe the start date for beta might either be today or within the next couple of days.
Since the general launch date anniversary doesn't happen until next month, there's still time to celebrate! I still have the graphic AOL made for the 2nd year anniversary. I can send it to you. I'm at work right now (goofing off as you can see). You know that first anniversary celebration would not have gone as well as it did without all of the wonderful things {{{{{YOU}}}}} did to keep things organized and running! So a HUGE thanks to {{{{{YOU}}}}}. I'll make you a promise....if you help again, I'll work with you to get something going...even it it's just for one day :)
Vivian

Hi folks -- I just posted my entry with the new badge graphic, as well as suggestions for tagging your anniversary entries so that other people can find them:

Thanks -- Joe
I started my journal in late May, 2004... won the AOL journal contest in June/July 2004.... and slid straight into obscurity after. I still amuse myself, and that's what matters.
So you are the one who got this whole thing started! Thanks for the reminder entry! Things sure have taken off since. I was one of the beginning J Landers -- started in September that first year. I left right around the first anniversary and just returned this past February. I love being back and am happy to be able to participate in this year's celebration.
Martha :-)
