Yesterday wasn't the greatest. But I got through it! Andi had told me to do something and I thought I would try to get out of the house. Well Andi I know this isn't what you had in mind but it is what happened.
My dad called me early and asked me to go to the funeral home with him. No, no one has died. My parents bought cementary plots years ago and paid for some of the stuff that goes along with it. What they hadn't done was pick out a casket for mom. (Dad want's to be cremated and had already taken care for an urn) So yesterday I went to help pick out one and to make sure everything that could be pre-planned was taken care of.
If you have never had to pick out a casket........they have a room full of them. It is so weird, especially to buy one for someone that hasn't passed yet.
So that was pretty depressing. I needed a pick-me-up so as soon as we left the funeral home it was off to the bookstore! I LOVE books. I got 3 books. They are:
the goodbye body by Joan Hess
Miss Julia's School of Beauty -- Ann B Ross
Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life by Tyler Perry
If you have never heard of these authors shame on you!
this is funny, wait to see what the cat does! LOL
I have a ton of links to add to my other journal. Why does it take so long to get them added? Well I have been trying to fix it so everytime you click on a link it opens into a new window (so you don't have to remember to right click or lose your place), but I am thinking I am going to quit doing that so I can get the links added before I lose them. What do you think? Get them there faster or wait until I have the time to key in html codes so each opens into a new window?
For now I will put some links here and depending on what you guys think will be how fast I get them added to the What to do Online journal. For now please RIGHT CLICK on these links as they do not have the proper html code to open into a new window.

I'm confused. Can't you just copy paste the links into that other journal? Or drag and drop them. I do that when I put links in my journal. I guess I'm not understanding what you mean.

that must have been weird going to the funeral home for sure. Creepy but I guess it has to be done. I hope you had a great day and thanks for all the links.
Had to snagg that cat animation. I grew up with funeral insurance hanging over my head. My mom always said, "You never know when you may go." I guess because my dad died so young. Then everyone makes over the stuff. I always heard how tasteful my dad's headstone was. Well, it was. My mother was proud of it. It's a culture and it should be done. Some people these days cremate and keep the ashes in their homes. I think that is bizarre and well, it is just wrong.
You did the right thing, you were strong. Good for you, Kathy. Your parents aren't all alone in this world and your dad had you by his side. I am sure it was very hard for him?
My mom is donating her body to science with no memorial. I don't get it.

That is so depressing. I can't imagine going and picking out my casket. I loved the cat graphic. lol

Love the cats! Had to grab it! I can see why that would bum you out. I wouldn't like to do it either! I'm sure it meant a great deal to your dad going with him though. That has to warm your heart though to make him happy & support him.
Wanted to wish you a nice Friday & a Happy Wkend!
Blessings,

It's cold and rainy here too. I have only been to one funeral home in my life, but I've visited many cemetaries. I think they are are beautiful and strangely comforting...even though I have naby zombie fears, but that's a different story. Have a good weekend, sweetie!
