Good Friday

A quick background for those of you that either don't remember or wasn't reading my journal at the time.  In November of 2004 (?) my Aunt E had a stroke that brought on deminta and I was her power of attorney so it was up to me to get her to the hospital and later to an assisted living place.  My Aunt passed away June 15 2005.  All her bills were paid and we (my parents and I) got busy empting her house to prepare to sell it.  (now we are just waiting for the painter to paint the outside of the house).

Why am I reminding you of all this?  I got a bill in the mail today.  From someplace I never heard of (out of state even) for over $200.  They claim to have come to a nursing home and took x-rays of my aunt's hands and that her insurance hasn't paid.  They claim the x-rays were made in Jan 2005!

What the?  Waiting a year to bill me?  No one ever told me my aunt's hands needed to be or ever were x-rayed.  As far as I know she never had any problems with her hands.

She has been dead for almost a year and now they want money?  I just don't think something is quite right with this bill.  What to do?  I don't have the money right now to pay it anyway, but I wonder if it isn't a fraud of some kind.

Oh!  Funny thing happened the other night.  I was lying on the couch watching tv and it was almost dark out so I thought I should get up and close the curtains.  The cats were looking at something out the window also.  So I look out and see EYES staring back at me!!!!!  Totally freaked me out.  Then my brain starting working on what my eyes were seeing.  It was my neighbors cat looking in on me!  LOL

Hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend.

Personally, I would just trash the bill. They'll cont sending, then may turn it over to a collection agency to try & scare you, even though they threaten...they will never take you to court for under a $1000. And if they should, it was over a yr ago, t

Sorry AOL went bonkers! LOL As I was saying, don't let them frighten you. If needed call a lawyer & ask his advice or a legal aid if you have one in your town.
Have a great wkend sweetie!!!

That sounds weird to me, that bill coming out of the blue like that. If it were me I'd question it further before even thinking about parting with any money ! Any my own cat has scared me like that before !! I could hear something at the kitchen window and when I peered out, Pins was staring straight back at me !! Like you said, freaky LOL

I would look up the name of the billers and see who they are. If they seem valid, I would call the assisted living place where your aunt lived  (not telling them about this bill) and ask for your aunts medical records (there would be a charge) to see if they ever truly did this work. However, I don't think I'd pay the bill. So they sue. Can't get blood out of a stone and why did they wait a year? How many people, I wonder, are billed for these things so long after. Sounds like a scam.
