I have been looking for Sophie a playmate.
I searched the internet last night. I found a
cat that looked exactly like Sophie in a
shelter about an hour away from where I
live. But I thought maybe it wouldn't be
such a good idea to have 2 cats that look
alike. So I went to my local shelter today.
There was this beautiful long haired grey
and white cat. Older than I wanted but was
very loving through the cage bars. I openned
the cage and she let me pet and rub her head.
Then I tried to pick her up and she tried to
bite me! So much for that cat. Beautiful or
not I don't want a possible biter.
I played with this black and white cat through
the cage and it seemed possible. But when I
tried to hold her she didn't like it. Sophie
doesn't like to be held either, and I want
a cat I can hold and love. So that cat wasn't
the right one.
Next cat.......through cage bars was great,
went to pick her up and she started hissing
at me. I took this as a no, not you either.
I finally happened upon cage 13. A black
shorthaired cat was curled up asleep. I
spoke to her and she looked up and yawned
at me. We played through the cage a little
and I decided I should try to pick her up.
Guess what happened? She purred! She
didn't mind being held, put her head on my
shoulder and purred!
So the little gal in cage 13 -- a black cat --
got adopted today. She has to be spayed
before she can come to her new home. I
can pick her up tomorrow after 4:30 at a
local vet.
As soon as I can get a photo I will be posting
my new little girl -- Maggie --. She is about
a year old, short hair, and solid black. Can't
wait to get her home! Hope and pray that
Sophie will like her new "sister."

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so glad u found a new kitten
awwwwwwwww congrats on your new fur baby. MAGGIE it was my grandmothers name how wonderful
Oh that is wonderful. I am so glad. It will take them a while to get used to each other and their might be some spitting and hissing but I have never had trouble getting cats to accept each other. They usually settle down in a week to ten days. It is obvious really, a stranger coming on their territory. Look forward to the pictures.

I'm so happy for you. How great is that! I love animals that will let you pet them and sit on your lap. : )

Congratulations on being a Mommy again. You've done a wonderful thing, you've saved a life. This is the greatest tribute you could give to Sadie. I look forward to seeing her picture and reading of her antics as you all become aquainted. Susan
Good for you. I can't wait to see the pics.

You are a good mama. If you were here I could have let you have almost any cat you want. Most of mine would love to be lap babies! LOL
I have 2 that look so much like Sadie. One is so sweet (blind in one eye) and the other is sassy!
Well done!
I hope she gets on with Sophie.........
Hi Kathy,
I am happy to hear that you have adopted a cat. I know when I lost my cat, I got another one quite soon and that was the best medicine for me. What a lucky cat, as she will have a great home with you!

Kathy,
I am so proud that you went to a shelter to find
a playmate for Sophie. So many people pay
big bucks for full blooded animals, when so many
are in shelters basically on death row.
I applaud you my friend.
