I am a worrier. Give me a topic and I can find something about it to worry about. So you don't have to worry along with me in this entry. Nothing is probably wrong. It's just me worrying for probably no reason what so ever.
What am I worrying over? Maggie. I know it is too soon for her and Sophie to be best pals. They still hiss at each other. That's not it. Maggie was hiding under my bed the first night I brought her home, when I finally got her out from under it I got her into another part of the house and shut the bedroom door. I didn't know how long she could hide there and I wanted to be able to watch her and get to her.
So now she stays in my spare room (computer, junk room). She seems to be sleeping all the time. Maybe she isn't really sleeping but it looks like it to me. I can't tell if she is eating or not. I have picked her up a couple of times and set her in the litter box -- so she knows where it is --and she will always pee a little.
I can pick her up and carry her, can sit holding her to watch tv. But if I ain't holding her she is curled up in the spare room.
Is this normal? Could she be sick? Is she a "loner" type of cat? She was spayed Thursday and the incision looks great. She is -- they are guessing -- around a year old. Why isn't she playing or walking around the house? Am I worrying for nothing? Maybe I should take her to the vet Monday.

If you've had her checked by the vet, then just give her some time!
Have you tried closing the door to the computer rm where she can't get it & see what see does?
She may need some time, this is all sooo new to her, yes there is a "loner" cat, but it's too soon to tag her as that. She needs more time.
Try feeding her seperately & watching her to make sure she's eating.
If you still have concerns, take her to vet & ask him for a good checkup, tell him exactly what your concerns are.
It may just take time. :0)
Blessings,

Don't worry it took Jasper six months to comne down from the top cupboardsin the kitchen and has taken two years before he will sit however briefly on my lap. Sounds pretty normal behaviour to me so don't worry Kathy.
OH it took about amonth for my kitties to be coem allis. It takes a bit till they see it has to happen
We have two cats. One eats like a pig and the other one hardly ever eats and that is the one that sleeps in my closet day and night. She only comes out when the kids are asleep. I think she doesn't like any noise and the other chubby cat was here first and she may feel she's the boss. We actually hide the older cat when the younger cat needs to eat or she'll steel her food. Your new cat could probably just be afraid of the other cat. She may feel it's the other one's territory. I also had a cat years ago who I swear never drank but a few sips of water a day. So, it's really hard to tell if your cat sick or just different. I would give it a few days and then take her to the vet if you don't see an improvement in her eating at all.
I just think she needs time to feel at home in her new digs. When we first got Sammy, he was like a stranger. He liked our attention, but didn't seem comfortable here. That lasted a week or two. He's part of the family now. Give it time . . . if you like, I'll worry so you don't have to. Blessings, Penny http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere

Hi Kathy,
You sound alot like me. I worry about everything.
As an outsider looking in I will give you my opinion. If I were you I would hold off on the vet so you don't waste your money. She's probably adjusting and recovering from surgery and the anthesisia. I would give her a few weeks. Pets can also pick up on our worries. It's a big adjustment for her and all of you.
Have a good day.
Donna
Hmmm, Hard to say. But I have read that cats can sleep up to 16 hours a day. I have a loner cat and I have sleeper cat. Keep an eye on her and see if this is part of her personality.
I do hope she's OK.

Terrific Pic!
