Please read and pass on

The Choking Game  I just read this entry over at Flora's.  If you have children you will want to read about the latest "craze" that kids are doing and how deadly it is.  Follow her links to read more and to see how it has happened to a J-lander's family member.  This is important people.

Cats! Gotta love 'em!!!

I started to do an entry with all fall graphics.  But then I found
this background and changed my mind.  The theme for today is
     cats.  Hope you don't mind.

Yesterday was a busy one.  I knew that my car's front left
tire wasn't in the best of shape so I went to the tire place.
When I left I had 2 new tires and a front end alignment!  So
glad to get everything taken care of.

Then I had to take my dad to the doctor.  He had his knee
operated on about 2 1/2 weeks ago and now that leg was
starting to swell.  The PA (can't ever get in to see a "real"
doctor these days) said that she thought he had pulled some-
in his calf, but she wanted to rule out a blood clot.  So we
had to go to another place for them to run a test to find out.
They had to "work" my dad in.  Took forever!  But thankfully
        no blood clot.

Then I just had to go buy some books.  As if I didn't have
any in the house!  I have several bookcases running over
with books.  Every now and again I MUST go buy books.
LOL  So I dashed of to Goodwill, picked up tons of books
plus a video and a DVD.  Spent less than $14.  Not bad.

Of all the things I wish AOL would give us, I wish they
would fix it so you can preview your entry before you hit
save.  As it is I have no idea if my graphics are really
where I want them.  And I TRY to have a left and right
margin when I use backgrounds, and let me tell ya, it isn't
          easy!!

Oh, I wanted to tell you about this website I found.  I
don't know how legit it is so if you chose to order some-
thing do so at your own risk.  And if you do let me know.
It's called "Neighborhoodies"  You can order all sorts of
tee shirts, hoodies, ect.... and they will put whatever
message/name you want on the item.  We used to have a
tee shirt store here that you could go in and they would
do that, I miss that store.....

As you probably know by now J-land is starting up for
the VIVI awards.  (Journal here if you don't know
Seems as if Vivian has found someone (in Vivian's
words not mine) that is shameless promoting them
self for all the awards.   Well, I say if Jennifer can,
then I can too!  So pick a catagory and just about
any will do, and nominate me!!  LOL, no, really......

Wednesday the 28th

I can hardly believe it is the last week in September!  Where has the year went?  The weather is turning cooler.  As I knew it would be cause the fair is coming to town and it is ALWAYS chilly and/or raining the week it is here.

I picked the angel graphic today for several reasons.  It seems like there are lots of people in J-land that are having a tough time and could use some prayers.  And the other reason is that it reminds me of this book I am reading.

The book is "90 Minutes in Heaven" and it is a true story about a man that died at the scene of a car accident, and then came back to life while still on the scene.

I am only half way through it, but this is an amazing book!  (Click on the book graphic to go to Amazon to read more about the book)

See, there is the car accident and when help shows up they pronounce the man dead and go on to help others.  A minister shows up and ends up crawling into the managled car to pray for the dead man.  This goes against all his Bibical teachings (praying for the dead), but he feels that God is telling him to do this.

While dead Don goes to heaven.  He tells all about all that he sees and feels.  Then suddenly he is back in his body in the wrecked car.  The book tells all about what happened leading up the accident, the accident and this man's journey back to health.

The book is truely amazing and I suggest everyone get it and read it.

On to other things........

I have been working on the look of my journal.  Bet you don't notice much, but I have opened another journal to list most all of my links.  If you want to check it out there is a link over there to the left, or you can click here.  I am still adding to this place so there will be more links to come.

I have also started up the journal for keeping up with all those catalogs that start coming this time of year.  To check it out click here.  Who knows maybe you will see a catalog that you have never heard of and find the perfect Christmas gift for someone!  Stranger things have happened.

And this is probably old news to everyone, but I read this one journal over at These Are The Days of our Lives that is great.  She uses the names of different journals to tell a story.  It is great, you must go check it out!  There is no way I could have come up with an entry like this one.

I am sure most of you have heard about the upcoming J-land awards.  If you haven't (and even if you have) Patrick has a journal set up to explain all about it.  The "offical" place is the VIVI Awards journal

Also, Vivian is in need of our prayers.  Her ex-husband died earlier this week and she just doesn't know how to tell her son or how it will affect him.

Guess that's it for now.  Take care.  Pick up a copy of the book I mentioned.

Prayers are needed.

I have just read about this over at Vivian's, she found it at Courtney's, and there is a light over at cdittric77's.  Seems as if Promise the person that writes for The Journal Jar is in bad need of our prayers.  Please go to Lahoma's to read more about it.  They are asking for us to have a virtual candlelight vigil for Promise.  Here is a copy of the light I have seen some of them using:

Weekend Assignment #78

John's assignment this weekend:

Weekend Assignment #78: You are preparing to evacuate your house due to an upcoming threat. You have already packed up all your essential items, people and pets. You have room for three non-essential items. What are they?

Remember, you already have your essentials: food, medicines, water, clothes, and all the people (including the furry ones) who live with you. "Non-essentials" are things you don't need but would like to have, and can include momentos, books, jewelry, objects of sentimental value, and so on and so forth.

Extra Credit: Have you ever been evacuated?

My 3 nonessential items (hard to narrow down to just 3)

1  my scrapbooks/photo albums

2  a box of books.  I would die if I didn't have any reading material.

3  the pillow I made from my grandmother's bath robe.

If I could have just one more thing, I would take my computer.  But the top 3 would mean the most to me.

Extra credit:  Have you ever been evacuated.  No.  My parents did run a Red Cross shelter at the coast a few years back during a hurricane.

Breaking News!!!!!

BIG, BIG announcement over at Patricks!!!  Click on graphic to go read all about it.

Some links I found.

I ran across The Daily Pulse not long ago, in fact I think I gave a link here.  It is an AOL news journal.  I have since ran across a couple more journals that I THINK (I very well could be wrong) are kept by AOL.  Here are some links if you want to check them out:

The Feed: You're the News Editor

Hurricane Katrina: See the Photos you took

Pictures at the Pump: See the Photos you took

I know that everyone knows about these:

By The Way (our fearless leader)

Magic Smoke (by Joe our journal editor)

and a few more that you may have already found:

The Expressions Factory (written by an AOL employee)
There is an "AOL Member Expressions"
message board if you are interested.

AOL's Book Maven (reviews of books by an AOL book editor)

The Bloggerati (by an ex-AOL community leader) great help on journals to be found here
This person also has a "message board" called
The Bloggerati Forum you may want to check it out.

And there is another ex-AOL community leader/ board host that has a journal dealing with back pain at: The Spine Line Too

And I just ran across this one:

AOL Genealogy Community News

Please right click on all links in this entry to open a new window.  I am too lazy to key in the code on all the links to make them open a new window.

update:  completely forgot to add the journal that John had put up for your photos of support for the Katrina victims.  Katrina Messages of Hope

One more for Hurricane Katrina  This one is for picures you/we took of relief help for Katrina.  Hurricane Katrina: America Responds

cleaning out files

What the heck am I doing with the above graphic?  Don't know.  Not a clue.

I have been really lax about saving things to a back up cd so I have started going through my graphics, sorting them (even though I thought I had alread done that) and finding all kinds of things:

Now I ask you why would I have saved this cow?  More importantly who made the thing and why?  I think that group PETA would be outraged!!  LOL

This one is kinda cute though:

Oh there is more I assure you but I won't but them all in this one entry.  Well, there is one more.  What the heck was I thinking when I had my named added to this little jewel? (oh my goodness.......)

If you haven't yet.......

If you haven't read it yet head over to Joe's and read the latest update that AOL is giving us here in the USA for our journals.  At first you may read it and say "what the?" but you will love it.  This includes a much easier way to upload graphics and pictures!  And you can mess around with your hit counter also.

So go to the offical AOL Journal: AOL Journals: Magic Smoke and read all about it.

My Babies!!!

I have yet to post a picture of my little Sophie.  So here is one taken shortly after I got her in June.  She was supposed to be 2 months old, but I don't think she was that old.  She weighted just half a pound.

Isn't she just the cutest little thing?  She is lots bigger now.  She weights 4.7 pounds as of this past Monday.

Here is Sophie and Sadie.  This is about the size Sophie is right now.  Don't they look a lot alike?  Even their coloring with black and some red highlights are the same.

Here is a bit of a close up of my babies.  They are laying on the top shelf of one of their cat "trees".

That's it for now,

Kathy

Who? What? Huh?

Over at Patrick's place he has been taking some quizzes.  These sounded like fun so I thought I would do them and share with you.

The first is Which Horror movie are you?

Take the quiz: "Which Horror Movie Are You?"

Carrie
You feel like a total outcast. Your whole life, you have been walked on and pushed around, and you're tired of it. Your life is spent indoors, by yourself, reading or just sitting, doing nothing. You feel like you've been rejected by the world, and that there is no point in trying anymore. You're a loner, and in desperate need of acceptance.

I don't know about you but that is kinda scary!!  Me, Carrie?

The next really isn't a quiz but finding out the meaning of your name.  I have known forever what Kathy means but I looked it up just the same at the site Patrick gives.  This is what it says:

                                                                    Kathy

                                               Pure : Greek

Balanced and fairminded you possess the ability to use sound reason and judgement when determined and decisive action is required. Persuasive and logical you tend to be an influential figure inyour circle of friends and associates. You are extremely adaptable and this is necessary as you seem to be continually being presented with decisions of a life altering nature.

To find out the meaning of your name click here.

Another "borrowed" entry.

I read this in one of the MSN groups that I am in.  I thought you might enjoy it.

****************************************************************

Rather cleverly done.   This is in two parts,
the prayer (in gold type) and GOD (in red type)

in response.  It is very, very good.

**********

Our Father Who Art In Heaven.
Yes?
Don't interrupt me. I'm praying.

But -- you called ME!
Called you?
No, I didn't call you.
I'm praying.
Our Father who art! in Heaven.

There -- you did it again!
Did what?

Called ME.
You said, "Our Father who art in Heaven"
Well, here I am.
What's on your mind?

But I didn't mean anything by it.
I was, you know, just saying my prayers for the day.
I always say the Lord's Prayer.
It makes me feel good, kind of like fulfilling a duty.
Well, all right.  Go on.
Okay, Hallowed be thy name.

Hold it right there.
What do you mean by that?

By what?
By "Hallowed be thy name"?
It means, it means . . good grief,
I don't know what it means.
How in the world should I know?
It's just a part of the prayer.
By the way, what does it mean?

It means honoured, holy and wonderful.
Hey, that makes sense.
I never thought about what 'hallowed' meant before.
Thanks.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Do you really mean that?
Sure, why not?
What are you doing about it?
Doing? Why, nothing, I guess.
I just think it would be kind of neat if you got control,
of everything down here like you have up there.
We're! kinda in a mess down here you know.

Yes, I know; but, have I got control of you?
Well, I go to church.

That isn't what I asked you.
What about your bad temper?
You've really got a problem there, you know.
And then there's the way you spend your money --
all on yourself.
And what about the kind of books you read?

Now hold on just a minute!
Stop picking on me!
I'm just as good as some of the rest of those people at church!

Excuse ME.
I thought you were praying for my will to be done.
If that is to happen, it will have to start with the ones
who are praying for it.
Like you -- for example.

Oh, all right. I guess I do have some hang-ups.
Now that you mention it,
I could probably name some others.
So could I.
I haven't thought about it very much until now,
butI really would like to cut out some of those things.
I would like to, you know, be really free.

Good.
Now we're getting somewhere. We'll work together -- You and ME.
I'm proud of You.

Look, Lord, if you don't mind, I need to finish up here.
This is taking a lot longer than it usually does.
Give us this day, our daily bread.

You need to cut out the bread. You're overweight as it is.
Hey, wait a minute! What is this?
Here I was doing my religious duty,
and all of a sudden you break in
and remind me of all my hang-ups.

Praying is a dangerous thing.
You just might get what you ask for.
Remember, you called ME -- and here I am.
It's too late to stop now.
Keep praying.  ( . . pause . . )
Well, go on.

I'm scared to.

Scared? Of what?
I know what you'll say.
Try ME.
Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
What about Ann?
See? I knew it!
I knew you would bring her up!
Why, Lord, she's told lies aboutme, spread stories.
She never paid back the money she owes me.
I've sworn to get even with her!

But -- your prayer --
What about your prayer?

I didn't -- mean it.
Well, at least you're honest.
But, it's quite a load carrying around all that bitterness
and resentment isn't it?

Yes, but I'll feel better as soon as I get even with her.
Boy, have I got some plans for her.
She'll wish she had never been born.

No, you won't feel any better. You'll feel worse.
Revenge isn't sweet. You know how unhappy you are --
Well, I can change that.

You can? How?
Forgive Ann. Then, I'll forgive you;
And the hate and the sin, will be Ann's problem -- not yours.
You will have settled the problem as far as you are concerned.

Oh, you know, you're right.
You always are.
And more than I want revenge,
I want to be right with You . (sigh).
All right, alright ...
I forgive her.

There now!  Wonderful!  How do you feel?
Hmmmm. Well, not bad.
Not bad at all!
In fact, I feel pretty great!
You know, I don't think I'll go to bed uptight tonight.
I haven't been getting much rest, you know.

Yeah, I know.
But, you're not through with your prayer are you? Go on.

Oh, all right.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Good! Good! I'll do that.  Just don't put yourself in a place
where you can be tempted.

What do you mean by that?
You know what I mean.
Yeah. I know.
Okay. Go ahead. Finish your prayer.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever.  Amen.

Do you know what would bring me glory --
What would really make me happy?

No, but I'd like to know.
I want to please you now.
I've really made a mess of things.
I want to truly follow you.
I can see now how great that would be.
So, tell me . . .How do I make you happy?

YOU just did...

I just discovered.....

I just discovered a AOL news journal.  You may already know about it as I am ususally the last to figure things out.  It's called The Daily Pulse.  Here is what it says in the all about me column:

Daily Pulse Vitals
It can be a breaking story or a fiercely debated issue. Whatever it is, we want your opinion.

I think it is a journal you should try out.  Click on the graphic to go to the journal.

Hello, Howdy, What's Up?

Can you believe that it has been over a week sence Katrina hit?  "They" (I am never really sure who "they" are) are bringing about 500 victims to North Carolina.  Some people will get to stay in a motel but the Red Cross is only paying for a week (my understanding, could be wrong) and then they are hoping for donations for the rest of the stay.  Some are being taken in by kind hearted people and some are having to be left in some shelters (NC).  At least these shelters will have food, water, and showers.

I know many of you are making donations to the Red Cross or to whomever you seem fit.  I would also ask you to donate money for the animals also.  If you click on the lion here it will take you to Noah's Wish.  They help rescue animals during floods and such.  You can donate to many places to help the animals this is just one of them.  My heart goes out to these poor critters.  Their human family may have gotten out but had to leave them behind.  Some maybe didn't have a home to begin with.  Please help them if you can.

This has been a long week and it is only mid week!  I can't wait for Saturday to get here.  Monday was a holiday but it really didn't seem like one.  Yesterday I took Dad to the doctor for his pre-surgery appointment.  Took forever and then we had to go shoping to get him some sweat pants for to wear after the surgery, and to the drug store for some pain pills.

Today I haven't done anything.  Nope nothing.  Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment in the morning and in the afternoon I have to take mom to an appointmen.  Friday is the "big" day that I am dreading.  That is when my dad gets his knee operated on.  I know it is a big deal to him, but to me it is taking him, sitting around for hours while the doctor works his "magic" and then taking dad back home.  I just really dread it.  But he's my dad so what ya gonna do?  LOL

I have been spending time sending graphics out to my graphics group.  If you aren't a member shame on you.  There is a link  to join to the left in the favorite sites column at the bottom.

The weather has been more autumn like this week.  I absolutely love it!  I hope you guys are having great weather too.

Take care,

This entry has been "borrowed" from John.

John has posted this in his By The Way Journal:

Comment for Charity

Xzasporated1 is doing a charity drive: Go to this entry, read it, and leave a comment, for every comment she gets (on comment per customer!) she'll pitch in a quarter for charity. A quarter's not a lot, but if she gets lots of comments, then it adds up. So go on over and give her some encouragement. Also, understand if at one point or another she puts a cap on the contribution.

And these few lines I "lifted" from Xzasporatedl:

Beginning the moment this entry is published and ending tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon, I will dump 25 cents back into the jar for every separate comment posted to this entry.  That's one quarter per person, folks; no fair leaving 25 comments, just to pad the kitty.  The only person allowed to artificially run up the tally is me.

This part actually written by me:

Hurry on over to Xzasporatedl's journal as you have only til noon tomorrow to leave a comment.  Please lets get as many people as possible to help with the cause.  Post her plea in your journal.

Kathy
