My aunt......After going over her Living Will and lots of talk we are not going to let them put a feeding tube in her. And actually before I got to the hospital to tell the doctor she had ate just a little bit. Not much, but every bit helps. She has also had another stroke or something because she is talking strange. Aunt E will take a few words that you just said and keep repeating them. She will keep it up for a few minutes or until you say something else. It is really strange. I would love to know what she is thinking -- or if she is really able to think.
The doctor called hospice in to help with my aunt also. My aunt will leave the hospital Monday to go back to the assisted living place. Hospice will be there everyday to make sure she is being taken care of and that if she is not eatting that she isn't in any pain. I feel a lot better knowing that they will be helping in her care.
Can't believe it is already the first day of spring! The weather sure feels like it though. I love it when it is warm enough to sit outside and yet cool enough not to burn up. My neighbor's "easter" flowers are blooming. You know, those buttercup things that always pop up this time of year. Easter is early this year. Hasn't came in March in ages. My parents were married on Easter 49 years ago this month. Forty-nine years! That is so hard to believe.
My Uncle B went home from the hospital a few days ago with his new pacemaker in place. He is doing really good. So glad to hear that. Too many people sick and in the hospital lately!
My brother knew dad was in the hospital but has never called back to see how he's doing. I realise it is long distance but he knows he can call me or mom collect. Sometimes I wonder about him.......
When my mom gets sick on her stomach she wants something a little "sour" for some strange reason. I had just tried these new chips by Lay's called "dill pickle". You should have seen the look on mom's face when she tasted one! They really do taste like a dill pickle. They are a little on the salty side though.
Guess that's it for now. Thanks everyone for your comments, emails, and prayers. You have no idea how much they have meant to me.
For any of you that celebrate Easter and all the "signs" that Easter is upon us (Easter flowers, dogwood trees blooming, etc....) check out this site. Music plays so you may want to turn your speakers down a tad: PINE TREE CROSSES ~ Wanda's Country Home

Hi Kathy,
Sorry to hear about all your problems. I think you made the right decision in regard to your aunt. I think you and I may be in the same age bracket with aging parents and relatives. It gets difficult when their health starts declining. I can relate to you when you wonder what your brother is thinking...I have a sister that I often wonder about what she is thinking. Actions do speak louder than words.
No sign of spring here in Detroit, it isn't even 40 and overcast today.
Take care,
Love,
Donna
I think you have made the right and Godly decision.

Oh thanks for that lovely link, and happy spring!
thanks for your comments, that are always on my blog. :-) :-)
love ya ,

I'm glad your aunt is eating a little on her own. Best thing for you to do is go by her wishes stated in her living will. And glad your uncle and his pacemaker are getting along. You are right, too many people in the hospital.
Oh boy, I feel so badly for you. Tough decisions. When my aunt had a stroke, they asked me to think about that feeding tube or not. Thankfully she recovered enough to eat on her own, but I had to decide to put her in a nursing home. I really wanted to bring her here with me, but at the time my father was living with us and my in-laws and we just didn't have any more room. Oh man, I cried and felt so guilty. To this day I still feel guilty. It's good you've got hospice for her. You know how much hospice has done for us. You and your aunt and family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Susan
Kathy I keep you in prayer every day. It's got to be so hard dealing with so much. But God is helping you do it and I think youve made some good, though difficult and painful decisions. Hospice, i'm sure is a huge help. You know they know what they are doing and really DO care for people. I admire you so much; your courage and strength and you must know you are loved, by many, including me. Hugs. *Barb*
Hi Kathy-
Hospice (Vista Care) also helps me and my Dad take care of my Mom. They are wonderful!! She will be in the very, very best of hands with Hospice. They are available for the entire family, 24/7. I have had to call them several times at 1AM, midnight or on a Sunday evening. And they call you back pretty quick. I am so pleased for you and your Aunt about Hospice. They are pros at keeping a person comfortable, respecting wishes, counseling family members, pain management and so much more. I truly don't know what we would do without Hospice.
Glad to hear your news and God Bless,
Gayla
