I want to clairfy something. I said we would have to sell my aunt's house because of Medicad. The deal with selling the house I belive is that to get Medicad to pay (or help pay) for an assisted living place. I know there is a general "spend down" rule depending on how much money my aunt might have in the bank.
Hopefully I will get the power of attonery papers signed tomorrow. Then I go to see about Medicad Monday. I will keep you up to date on the pain in the hiney that I just know will be coming from them. LOL

I went through a similar situation when my parents health began to deteriorate. The system was a mess. Medicade beds in facilities were only available in short supply and you had to have basically no assets in order to qualify. Medicare was the way we went but there is a time limit on that. When working through this, don't get discouraged. Just take baby steps and you'll make your way through the bureaucratic maze.
