Sexy Men

I adore men.  I love them to pieces.  I would love to have one of my very own.  I like men with a head full of hair, I love bald men, I love young (well, over 21 lets be legal here), older men, hairy chests.  I love men.

I think the sexiest things a man can wear are:

white t-shirt (all t-shirts are ok, but white is the best)
faded blue jeans (no rips or tears)
jeans that fit  -- (not too tight, I know your a man you don't have to show it.)
barefoot, or those old canvas converse type sneakers, or even those boots that are something between a biker and a cowboy boot.

Now if you have been all dressed up sexy would be:

suit jacket open
white shirt half way unbuttoned and untucked
tie untied still around neck
barefoot

I am telling you this to get to this:

Yesterday I saw a show on TLC called "Faking It".  They were taking this tall, skinny, nerdish man and trying to turn him into a Chipendale dancer inside a months time.  Ladies you know that those Chipendale's are hot guys, however, if I were to watch a man strut across the stage I would prefer to see them wearing more that a g-string and a smile.  It does nothing for me.  Sorry.  I prefer my men with a little more on.  And for you men out there that is a good thing.  Cause face it, most of you don't quite look like Chipendale's.

Personalized graphics

I keep getting questions about the "tags" that I use with my name on them such as the one above.  No, I don't make them.  Wish I could.  I belong to some MSN groups that make them -- for free even!

I am forever telling people just to go to MSN and look for a group.  Now I realise it isn't quite that simple, so here are the step by step instructions to get you to the listing of groups that make some of the "siggys" I use.

go to msn.com
look to the far left column in blue
scroll down to where is says people
click on groups
this will send you to another screen
click on browse groups
this will send you to another screen
click on computers and internet
this will send you to another screen
click on user groups

lastly this will send you to another screen that lists msn groups in this category
now look for groups that make sigs, siggys, tags and such.

Simple, right?  LOL

John I am so sorry that you gave up.  I should have done the following but my brain wasn't working when I didn this entry.  Here is a link to THE page that shows a list of groups.  And hopefully this link (and I re-worked the one above a tad) will open a new window without you having to go back and forth.

July 4th is a comin'

I want to make sure everyone has some type of red/white/blue graphic for next Sunday which is July 4th.  As far as I know these are copyright free, some I snagged and some I bought.  Please take 1 or 2 or whatever and use it July 4th.

And for those of you in the UK I haven't forgotten you.  I know it is not a special day for you but I found a snag you may want.  I will start with that one first.

It is funny.....until you get old

Yesterday my Aunt E's toliet overflowed.  Not funny.  The telephone conversation between she and my mom, funny.  But not to my mom at the time.

Aunt E:  my toliet is overflowing

Mom:  what you want me to do?

Aunt E:  there is water all over the place

Mom:  have checked to see if the water is still running?

Aunt E:  huh?

Mom:  take the top off the tank and she if it is full of water yet.

Aunt E:  yeah, it's full of water

Mom:  have you tried the plunger yet?

Aunt E:  the plunger?

Mom:  yeah, the plunger

Aunt E:  will that do any good?

Mom:  yes, it will help the stuff to go down.

Aunt E:  ok

Mom:  did it work?

Aunt E:  what do you mean?

Mom:  was there a loud girggle and a swosh?

Aunt E:  yes

Mom:  then it worked

Aunt E:  I never knew a toliet could over flow like this.  Has yours ever overflowed?

Mom:  why yes.

Aunt E:  well you never told me!

Mom:  well I just didn't think it was news worthy enough to pick up the phone to tell you the toliet is overflowing.

Aunt E:  there is water all over the place.

Mom:  get the mop.

Aunt E:  mop?  I have this cloth......

during the conversation mom sends dad over to Aunt E's to see what is going on and if she needs help.  Dad comes home and said all there was for him to do was to get the water out of the floor.  Aunt E was using the same rag to soak up some water then ring it out in the sink, then use the same rag to do that again, and again.......

What have we learned here?  Either my Aunt E has never had an overflowed toliet in her life (which I find hard to believe), she is just out right dim, or her mind is going.

Mom didn't think any of this was funny.  I told her to step back from it for a second and think of what was said:

I didn't know a toliet could overflow.

A plunger will help?

A mop?

And she finally agreed it was somewhat funny.  Now don't get me wrong I am not making fun of my aunt -- it is just that the whole thing was funny.  My aunt is something like 75-76 so you would think in all those years she would have learned that a toliet can overflow, a plunger just might help, and that yea, a mop will soak up water.

The sad thing is to think that as some of us age our minds don't work quite the way they used to.   And for family members of people like that if you don't find something funny in what is going on you will be depressed over things that you have no control over.  So yeah, Aunt E's stopped up toliet was funny.

The day after.

Thanks to everyone that left birthday wishes, sent emails, and e-cards.  It helped to make my big day special.

As far as birthday's go this was ok.  I tend to look at all that went right.  So this is everything that was good:

After days of gloomy weather and rain the sun was out when I walked out my front door yesterday.  Woo Hoo  It clouded up later and poured down rain, but then the rain stopped, the sun came out really bright.  It was as if God was giving me a little happy birthday wish.

I got a card in the mail from Aunt Betty.  She always sends me a card.  But this year there was some cash in there!

Mom gave me this little cat figurine that I had been wanting but was too cheap to spend $30 on.

My aunt/uncle/cousin at the coast sent me flowers.  Daisies even!  My favorite flower!  Been a long time since I recieved flowers.  Great.  Loved it.

Had breakfast at this place that is the only place in town that serves brown gravy (made from scratch even), was totally great.

Back when I bought a new fridge I sent in for a rebate.  Got the $50 check today!!! Nice little birthday present!

Aunt M called and sang happy birthday to me.  Would have been better if she could sing but it was great.

Even with a few let downs it was still a pretty good day.  The MSN groups that I am a member of had a happy birthday thread going for me.  So cool.  People that don't even know me wishing me a great day.  They know me even less than you guys so it was a surprise.

Once again to all those that sent me well wishes:

John's weekend assignment

Money.  Millions of dollars.  For little old me?  What would I do with it?  Hmm.........

2 million dollars for charities?  A large amount for my church and all that they support.  Mental health issues are near and dear to me so NAMI and other such local organizations would get money, local organizations that help with abandoned and abused animals, not PETA because I just don't agree with everything they stand for.  I would love to start a non-profit to help poor people with their pets medical stuff, spay, neuter, shots, etc....I learned with Sadie how expensive pets can be.  I think more people would take better care of their pets if they just had the money.  Local church groups that help senior citizens would get some money. As well as the local Meals on Wheels.

2 million for me?  Family first.  A house in the country for my parents.  A new truck for dad, a maid and a cook would make mom happy.  Money in a trust fund for my nieces, my brother to the dentist.

One of those picnic shelter things for my church.  It would be so cool to have a couple of those.  The church heating/air conditioning could be updated also.

I would buy some land and have a house built.  A special "cat" room would be included with climbing things, etc....with windows from floor to ceiling and a little screened in porch for them to go out onto.  A new car.  I think I would like that cook and maid deal also.

Money would have to be put back so I don't have to worry about losing thatnew place because I couldn't pay the taxes.  Investment (safe one, no high risk here) so I will have enough money to live on.

I would love to own some real artwork too.  Like a few pieces of Jon Rattenbury's work.

I have always wanted to have a little bookstore.  A funky little one with chairs and sofas.  No big chain store.  Just a nice little cozy one.

Have I spent 2 million yet?  If not I have probably came close, don't ya think?

I am not that crazy lady.

While out driving around yesterday........

I am driving the speed limit, actually a mile or two over.  There are 2 police cars in the lane beside me, they are a little ahead of me but not too far.  I am speeding a tad so they are speeding just a little more than me.

This van is behind me.  Right on my tail.  I so hate when people do that.  And she starts blowing her horn.  I look in my rear view mirror and she is motioning for me to go faster.

She wants me to go faster.  To pass 2 police cars.  Is she crazy?  Does she honestly think that I am going to pass 2 police cars?  Really?

If it is life or death she should get in behind the cops and blow her horn at them!!!!

Naturally, I drop my speed back down to the speed limit.  And she freaks out.  After the 2 police cars turn off she zooms in that lane, and starts speeding even more.

Hope she made it in one piece.  Wonder why the huge hurry?  Why did she want me to get a ticket?  Oh, if I got pulled then they wouldn't see her speeding by?

I am not that crazy lady.

Well, I could have had a V8!

You know that head smacking moment?  Thanks to you guys I have had several of those.

Had a live chat with Gateway about some of the problems I have been having and they helped me.  Didn't even think about asking the computer people for help.

And my fish, who would have thought about googling to learn more about them?  Just because I am sitting here on the computer already.

I have learned that when I asked the guy at PetSmart questions about the fish I was buying that he evidently didn't have a clue.  I asked for a bottom feeder.  He sells me an alge feeder, so I have nothing to clean the bottom, and I have a fish starving because the tank is new and there is nothing for it to eat.  Also, I had bought 3 male guppies, he says you want to get a female?  Sure why not.  Will one female be ok with 3 males?  Sure, no problem.  The female is dead.  Should have more females than males.

Live and learn.

Technical Help Wanted

Does anyone know where I can find a list of what is OK to delete/make inactive some of the tasks that are running under the "processes" tab of the windows task manger?

I was told that you really don't want more than 40 or so running at one time, and guess what -- I have more running.  I have no idea what these things are and if I need them or not.  I don't want to delete/inactive the wrong things.

Is there a place at the Microsoft web site that will tell me?  I have looked around and guess since I don't know what I am looking for I can't find anything.

Any help will be appreciated.  For those that have tried to help me with my computer problems in the past thank you.  I don't want to wear out my welcome so I decided to just place an "ad" for help here.

Thanks everyone.

test not great, and my fishies

I am glad those of you that could see the video in my last entry liked it.  For those of you that haven't been able to see it, I never saw it either.  I gave up on waiting for it to load, just takes too long on dial up so I am going to make it go away.

Stuart it was supposed to be a video of this really bad singer that didn't make the cut on American Idol (I think England has a verson, a singing talent show) but for some reason people liked this guy.  He was so bad but with so much confidence that people loved him.

Fishies:

Help!!!!  All my fish are STILL alive (well, one died but he didn't make the first 24 hours so I don't count him).  But in an effort to make sure they get plently to eat I have overfed.  I have a "bottom feeder" but he just sticks to the sides of the tank and ain't cleaning up the food on the bottom from my overfeeding.  I know that I can't leave the "extra" food just lying in the bottom.  It will rot or something, right?  And then make my fish sick.

The video that came with my set up showed this vacumn thingy to clean the bottom.  Didn't know one of those existed, and I will check into buying (?) one Monday.  But is there another way to clean up the extra food?  Without cleaning the entire tank out?  I really don't want to do that if I don't have to.

And just how much is enough food?  The container says to feed twice a day and not to over feed.  I would rather be told "hey, dummy, give them ___teaspoons of food twice a day" than not just "don't over feed".

And to John that wanted to eat the fish rather than to watch them: Shame on you!  These little things are to bring me joy.  That is if I can learn how to take care of them.

I promise a new entry soon about something other than Sadie or my fish.  Really.  I know you are sick of hearing about Sadie.

Kathy

Saw this at at another journal.  Just had to see if I can get it to work.  Be patient.  Does it take too long?  Is it worth it?  Should I just delete it and go on with my life?

If you wanted to see the video and missed it, sorry.  But for those on dial up it just took to long to load, and because it kept trying to load every time you visited I just deleted it.  Sorry.  If you right click on the above box it will take you to the site that offers videos for your web page.

Weekend Assignment

Strange that this weeks assignment comes after I do a "rerun" on the same topic.  I will give an over veiw.  If you want to read the story in more depth go to my rerun entry at:  My little Sadie

My story about Sadie.  This past January I was driving down the road and saw what I thought was a little kitten.  I kept driving but couldn't get the picture out of my mind.  I drove back, got out the car, walked up to this little black ball of fur.  Little black ball of fur looked up at me and meowed.

I couldn't leave little ball of fur on side of road (a few days later we had a bad winter storm) so I scoop it up and drive to my vet.  Kitten is a female about 3 months old, weighs 1.5 pounds (about a pound underweight), and has an upper respitory infection.

Leave fur ball at the vets to get checked out and treated will I decide on what to do.  My cat home is 18 years old and had this to say about me bringing someone else home:

Preview  Not a happy camper huh?

I go back to the vet to find that the reciptonist has named my little fur ball "snotty" as it is covered from one end to the other with that stuff.  Gotta have a better name.  I put out a plea and fellow journaler karnesull12 comes up with a winner.  Sadie.

This is Sadie after being cleaned up and me bringing her home:

Preview  So cute.

Sadie has had her ups and downs.  All kinds of meds and countless trips to the vet.  Finally over her infection and we discover she has something wrong with her esphogus.  It has these spasims that I find very scarey.  They interfer with her breathing.

This little ball of fur has won my heart and the hearts of everyone at the vets.  Her weight has been up and down, but I finally have her on some food that has her steadly gaining weight.  She is up to a whomping 4.5 pounds.  Dr B wants her to about 6 pounds.

This picture is Sadie this past May:

Preview  Adorable or what?

And with Dr B (don't have permission to show his face)

I really should do an entry on other pet sometime huh?  Like the female dog I had named Jeremiah.  ChiChi the siamese cat that never forgot that K picked up one of her kittens, or when she chased a dog out of the yard....

Sorry that I have been gone for a couple of days.  I have a fairly good reason:
sore throat, runny nose, coughing, sneezing, yep, a really good bad cold.  But I am feeling better, thank you very much.

Thanks to everyone that had advice on keeping fish.  I just couldn't wait any longer so I went today and bought some.  Got some really pretty guppies.  Why is it that the males are the pretty ones?

Just heard on the radio that singer Ray Charles had died.  What a shame, he was a great singer.

John -- Rocketman -- gave me a link for English Slang.  Quite a few of the words would mean something TOTALLY different here in the USA.  Go and check it out it is worth the "agro"  you might be "Chuffed", after all you don't want to "Drive you round the bend/up the wall " when you read an UK journal .  "Get your skates on!"

Fish. Community Journal

used with permission

http://areyoume.net/english.html

Monday started off great.  Woke up with a sore throat.  Guess that is why I felt so tired all weekend.  I hope that it doesn't turn into a full fledged bad cold.

I went yesterday and bought an aquarium.  (I have wanted some fish for the longest time.)  I didn't get everything set up until today.  Now I have to wait before I get fish.  At PetSmart I was told to wait 24 hours.  The instructions with the tank said 7 days.  Who is right?

The instructions also said to add only 1 or 2 fish at a time.   Anyone out there with an aquarium?  How long should I wait to add fish?  It is a 10 gallon tank so I think the most I can have is about 6 fish, I think.  Anyone know?

OH, there is another great journal out there.  Community Story Book is a journal that is a story in the making.  Fifteen AOL journlist take turns writing part of the story.  #1 writes an enty, then #2 picks up the story, and so on.  Just when I (and maybe some of the writers) think the story is going in one direction the next entry takes it a different way.  There has only been 5 entires so far so now is the time to go and catch it from the beginning.

Walk The Frog

used with the artist permission
www.metalandmagic.com

The above is another piece of artwork that I just had to get a print of.  I know, my taste run a bit on the unusual side.  But look at that little froggie!  He is so cute.  I love this artist work.

I try to drink decaffenated stuff but every so often I got to have the "leaded" so I went through a KFC drive thru to get some ice tea.  When I pulled in my driveway my neighbor came running out of his house to meet me.  Freaked me out a little.  We get along ok, but we are not the chummy neighbor types.

Seem J wanted to do some yard work and his chain saw wasn't working.  He wanted to cut down this small tree at our driveways and wanted to know if my dad had a chain saw.  I was so thrilled at this I could have wet my pants!  Really.  There is a fence between our houses and just on his side of the line a tree had been growing ever since I moved in.  You know the type, a little seed takes hold and most of us yank it up, mow it down before it turns into a tree.  (He also let one of these grow right up against the front of his house)

I grab a phone and call dad.  He comes a running. He thinks that tree is in the wrong place, looks bad, and is out of control where it is.  Before I know it, he and J have that tree and the one in front of J's house down.  While J is hauling the branches away I go tell dad thanks.  He said "I am happy to get that tree down."  J offers my dad some money but he won't take it because he (my dad) is as thrilled as I am to see that tree gone.  It took less than 30 min to get both trees down so you know they weren't really big. Big enough though.

So I could do another happy dance!  Don't get me wrong,  I love trees, and would love to have some more shade trees but these trees were growing in all the wrong places and if that one had been on my property I would have yanked it up by the roots years ago.

Lazy day

Yesterday I went to visit my Aunt Betty.  (She lives about an hour away.) Had a great time.  She had a doctor's appointment so I went early to do some shopping.  Then we met up with Aunt Betty had a late lunch and shopped some more.  And I am soooo tired now.

There was this store called Magic Mart.  Nice little place sort of like a Kmart.  I found a great buy on some software.  I love to make cards but I had been looking for some software to help with the insides of my cards.  But I am also cheap so I didn't want to pay $20 or more for something that I don't know if I really want.  At Magic Mart I found Hallmark Card Studio (3 CD ROMs in the box) for $4.99.  WOW.  Haven't had the time to really play with it, but I feel that chances are really good that I got my money's worth.

So, yesterday I was gone from about 9 am til about 4:30pm or so.  Great time like I said, but boy did it make me tired.

Weekend Assignment

used with artist permission
http://hometown.aol.com/judithheartsong/myhomepage/

As for John's weekend assignment:

A book that would tell people what I am like?  That is hard.  I think I would say the book "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" by Stephen King.  The story is that of a little girl that gets lost.  She, her mom, and her brother are on a nature trail.  As always the brother is arguing with the mom.  Girl has to use the bathroom, so she steps off the path into the woods.  And gets lost.  The book is then about how she tries to find her way out of the woods.  She spends days lost, and has to find food, water, and shelter at night.  There are times when she feels she is being watched and at times is sure she must be hallucinating.  While she is lost the world (or her little corner of it) is looking for her.  In the end she finds her way out of the woods by herself.

I think this is like me because the girl is trying to find her way and has to look after herself at the same time.  My life seems to be like that.  I feel lost and I know people are reaching out to me, but I have to find my way by myself.

Extra points:  A book that was recommended to me that I didn't like?  Don't remember the name of the book but I know my brother is all like "you'll love it!".  It was by horror writer Clive Barker.  I didn't like it.  Don't like anything Clive Barker writes.  Sorry Mr Barker.

The artwork above was done by fellow journaler.  Her name is Judith Heartsong and her journal is called Judith HeartSong. She was nice enough to let me share her art with my readers.  Check out her journal, and her home page that shows more of her work here.

Spike

I love this picture.  I know that it is a strange picture but I am drawn to it for some strange reason.  The name of it is "Spike and the mice".  I ordered a print of it as an early birthday present for myself.  Hey, no one else was going to buy it for me I can assure you.

So some of you watch Trading Spaces.  Who is your favorite designer and which carpenter do you like?

Me?  As far as carpenters I could watch Ty all day long.  I like how spunky Wyn is, and Faber is such a sweety.  But if one were to make furniture for me I think I would go with Ty.  He has his own furniture business.  And I love his designs.

As for designers?  Tough.  If you wanted to be "safe" you should go with Frank, Edward, or Vern.  (Heard that Vern has left and is going to do something with NBC.)  Hilde used to be safe but lately she has gone crazy.  Did you see the feathers on the walls that she did?  I think I would have to go with Frank, or oh, what about one of the new guys?  Rick, and what is that other guy's name?  Can't remember.

My new refridgerator was delievered this morning.  I am so happy.  If you had told me that one day I would get so happy over an appliance I would have laughed at you.  But after having such a small one before, I could do a happy dance here.
