Dallas

This is a picture of my cat Dallas.  It is an old picture but she still looks the same.  Dallas is around 18 years old or so.  She has always been a really healthy cat.  In fact she had never had to go to the vet for sickness.  Until now.

Dallas has thrown up for a couple of days and there has been no poop that looks like hers in the litter box.  With 2 cats eating each others food it is hard to keep up with who is eating but I don't think she had done much of that for a couple days either.

Called and found out that yep Dr B was working today so Dallas and I got there at 8 am opening time.  Dallas was not a very happy kitty at all!!!  Dr B did manage to listen to her heart and sort of feel of her tummy.  But she kept growling and hissing.  He didn't seem to be bothered by that.  But then she tried to bite.  Bite him, bite me.  It was horrible.  He was going to try to muzzle her but then thought better of it.  Dr B wanted to draw some blood and he would have to get to her neck to do that.

Sedation was going to be the way to go.  Getting the shot into her hiney was not going to be an easy task.  With a towel thrown over her upper body and his one hand holding her down Dr B did get the shot in.

Blood work turned out really good.  She does have a little something wrong with her kidneys but that is to be expected at her age.  The problem looks like some inflamation around her pancreases.  No real problem there.  The real problem is going to be giving her meds, twice a day for 5 days for the inflamation!!!  Thanks to all the shots Dallas got while she was snoozing I don't have to worry about the meds until tomorrow.

I had to keep Dallas in her carrier until she came around and was more steady on her feet. Sadie couldn't understand this and wanted to rub up against the little gate thingy.  Dallas really didn't like that.

Dallas is out of her carrier now and has eatten some.  She still doesn't want Sadie or me messing with her.  I hope she forgives me for all that she had to go through today.

AWW you were just getting the other kitty better. SO sorry this one sick. HOpefully it will be better soon. It sure is a pretty kitty. we had a calico for 19 years. Tracy had it since she was a very tiny baby. ITs hard to let go. So I hope you get to be with your kitty a goood while longer. I just finished posting about our renovations on the porch. That was a big job. Stop by ifyou get a chance as I got several pics of it all. Lori http://beta.journals.aol.com/my78novata/LorisLaurels/

oh, Boo'ful, Boo'ful Kat!  I'm sure Dallas will be just fine with all the TLC she's in for. Take more pictures now.  Really--we've had lotsa kitties get to be 18, and just assumed all the others would last that long or longer--so tended to stop capturing their grown-up moments after kittenhood.  In fact, some of our kitties never got their pictures taken at all, they were with us for such a short time.  Sad.  Sending purrs to both your babies.
