Nothing really.

Don't have anything really to say in this entry.
But I did want to share some things that I got in a e-newsletter.
Click on the pictures for the entire story.  (please right click.  I haven't figured out how to get a picture link to open in a seprate window.  The not getting a border to show throws me off somehow.

First off you have to read the article that goes with this picture.
Here is just one line from the article.  Consider it a "teaser."

"Actually it's belching, not farting, that's the problem,"

This also is from the same e-magazine.  Ya gotta love it:

Before you next flush the toilet, consider this: Scientists in Singapore have developed a battery powered by urine.

Well, maybe you don't gotta love it.  Just think you will one day be able to power your mp3 player or your laptop computer with pee.  LOL

This next photo is just a cute one.  No real story.  The guy that took the picture talks about the butterflies though.

Love the butterflies!

Guess that is all for this entry.  Just wanted to share a little bit of fun stuff with you.

If you don't know by now all of the above pictures and articles are from National Geographic site.  Sign up for their newsletter.  You never know what you may find!  LOL

AnniverSurvey

(Click on the above graphic to see who I stole it from!)

This entry is taking the survey that Vivian has asked us to take today.  So here goes:

1. The first one involves what you'd call this set of questions.
Here's a list...pick the one you like best and make it the title of
your entry when you answer these questions in your journal:

AnniverSurvey
AnniversaryAdmissions
Anniversary Appraisal
Anniversary Assessment
Anniversary Audit
Anniversary Examination
Celebration Survey
Celebratory Census
Commemorative Confessions
Festival Feedback
Milestone Marker
Party Poll
Party Proclamations
Revel & Reveal
Second Celebration Confessions
Second-Year Survey
Special Day Disclosures

As you can see I chose AnniverSurvey

2. Are there any certain AOL Journals that you can't do without?  List a few of your favorites.

Now that isn't a fair question!  So many.  But I do have to say that there are 2 that are very special to me:

Nwanyioma's Journal
Just One Girl's Head Noise

These are really great ladies and I don't think I could have made it these 2 years without them.

3. What is the best and worst things that happened during J-land year 2004-2005?

Are we talking in J-land or my personal year?  The worst to happen in J-land is Pamela's cancer.  The best? I am sure someone got married or had a baby but I don't know who, so I will say Vivian getting her dream house.
In my personal life?  The worst? I lost my precious cat -- Dallas -- of 19 years.  My Aunt E died. The best? My new kitty Sophie.

4. What changes would you most like to see made to AOL Journals during the third year?

Do we dare to ask?  hee hee  I still would love spell check.  And more space in the "About Me" column.  Maybe one more column for our anniversary "badges" that AOL has made for us.

5. Has one of your favorite reads disappeared?

No.  I don't think anyone has just disappeared without so much as a goodbye.

Who would you most like to see return to AOL J-land during the third year?

There are several, but I think I would most like to see SloMo give us an update.  I would love to know how her family is doing.

6. What's the silliest/stupidest/most embarrassing mistake you've ever blogged and overlooked?

Well chances are there are a zillion of them but I just don't realize it!  I know there are tons of spelling and grammer errors.

7. What's the newest journal you've discovered that you've put into
your daily rotation?
(Not necessarily the newest to J-land, but the newest to you.)

Life Seen Sideways

Happy anniversary everyone!

Friday!!!!

I can't believe that summer is just about over.  I am kinda looking forward to cooler weather.

Today I was listening the radio.  Had it tuned to an "oldie" station.  Wow, do I feel old.  Music from "my day" is now playing on the oldie stations.  Anyways, they were playing this song by Was (Not Was).  Remember them?  No?  Bet you know the song though.  Walk The Dinosaur, ya know:  Boom boom acka-lacka lacka boom
                                                 Boom boom acka-lacka boom boom
Open the door, get on the floor
                                                 Everybody walk the dinosaur

Can't get the song out of my head now.  Not that it was a great song but the "everybody walk the dinosaur" is kinda catchy.

Over at Brandie's World Brandie is asking for some advice.  Pop on over and see if you can help her out.  Sticky situation.

Yesterday I went to see the movie "March of the Penquins".  It is about the Emperor penquins and their journey to come ashore to mate and raise their baby.  It is a documentary style movie by National Geograhic.  I laughed, I cried, laughed and cried some more.  It is beautifully done and I would recommed it to anyone.  I don't think it is quite the "kiddie" movie that you might think, but there were dozens of kids there so I guess I could be wrong.

Please don't forget that our J-land anniversary is this Sunday.  Please visit Vivian for all the details.  As you may know last year AOL made a graphic for first year.  They have made a commemorative "badge" for this year:

I picked this one up over at the offical AOL journal Magic Smoke.  Pop on over there and grab one for yourself. Actually you can grab mine, however I do suggest you mosey on over to Joe's place to get caught up on all the problems AOL journals seem to be having lately.  This is a good site to keep on top of things like that.  Joe seems to be a really cool guy.

I went shopping for some new jeans.  I HATE shopping for clothes.  But sometimes you just have to do it.  Grabbed a couple pair of Highway 66 jeans at Kmart.  Got home to find out they are too big.  Now I know I haven't lost weight so I guess they are making the jeans a bit larger for the given size.  Supposed to make me think I am smaller than I really am?  Or am I just paranoid?

Speaking of Kmart, John has just done a journal entry on the subject of Kmart, Walmart and Target stores.  Hard to believe that some people have never been in a Walmart.

Have you been watching Big Brother 6?  I am so mad that they voted out Kaysar.  Can't stand April.

My kitties are doing great.  Sophie -- the kitten -- is doing cute stuff all the time.  I could go on and on -- like a proud mom.  But I won't.

Hope to be at the anniversary chat Sunday (see Vivian --link above--for details).

Wednesday the 17th

Yesterday I took my mom grocery shopping.  It was horrible.  I have been having a lot of anexity lately and being out in public just made it worse.  I was right on the edge of a full blown panic attack by the time I got her home.  At least she did get to do her shopping before I told her we just had to leave.

While I was online yesterday trying to do a few things little miss Sophie decides to play at my feet.  No problem right?  Wrong.  Right in the middle of things my screen goes black.  What the?  Somehow she had managed to unplug everything.  So I get the plug back in, log back on, get in the middle of something and my screen goes blank again.  Was ready to throw Sophie out the window.  (not really)  This time she had stepped on the on/off thing on my power surge protecter thing.  I got everything turned back on but I gave up on doing anything on line.  I was really p.o.ed by then.

If you are the least bit interested in reality shows or the rich and famous you have to check on the new show on E!  It is called "Filthy Rich Cattle Drive"  It has 10 children (adult children) of the really wealthy on it.  This ain't no Paris Hilton show.  These people are expected to drive cattle!  So funny are the women!  They were wondering how they would use their blow dryers and flat irons when they camped on along the trail.  When they saw the rancher's version of a "port a potty" I thought they were going to die!  You gotta check this show out.

Click on this pick to see who it is and why she is bald:

In just a few more days it will be J-land's 2 anniversary.  Not as much going on this year as last but still things you will want to check out.  Click on the partying bears to go to Vivian's to see what all is going on.

.

Well that's all I have for now.  Got to feed the little 4 legged kids that I have.  Take care.  Hope to see everyone at the anniversary chat.

3 Eyed Fred

Friday!  At last.  And this has been one hot week.  Into the 90's every day I think.

While reading Vivian's journal about J-land's 2nd Anniversary I started thinking about what I could do to participate.  Then I saw a Christmas count down ticker in Stuart's journal and thought I could do that.  Hopefully I did it right and it will count down right.  Copy/paste if you want to:

I hear about this on the news or somewhere then I found an article on it.  What?  Ligers!  What the heck is a Liger?  See picture:

At first glance it looks like a lion, but if you look closely you can see some tiger markings on it.  Click on the picture to go to story.  I don't understand why man wants to try to "create" new animals.  As the article says most of the Ligers born at the zoo aren't really healthy.

Yesterday I got a check from the assisted living place my aunt was living in.  They refunded part of June's payment.  I thought they should but I wasn't going to try to get it out of them.  The check is for $500 so it was great to get.  Sure can use it to do some work on my aunt's house so we can sell it.

Looks like I am getting some new neighbors.  The house has been empty for over a year.  The couple that lived there before moved out and the house had to go through forclosure.  As much as they were asking for the house I am surprised that it sold.  Maybe they came down on the price.

One of my parent's neighbors is in jail. "A" got arrested for driving with a suspended license.  (I am not sure why it was suspended but suspect DUI)  He is having to spend 60 days in jail for it.  I know his wife must be upset.  But then she had to know that he was driving without a license.

John is pimping a journal that is all about Big Brother 6. etvjackie subscribes to the CBS live feed of the show and writes about what she sees on that feed.  And if your like me and too cheap to pay for the feed it is great to get information from someone that does.  It is the only way you will find out the Beau urinated during Thursday's head of household competition.  Let's face it, they ain't showing that on the tv.  LOL  The offical BB6 site is here: Big Brother 6.

That's it for now.  See ya around J-land.

Just another day in August

Nothing much going on around here.  Took Sadie back to the vet and let him run some tests on her.  Didn't really find out anything we didn't already know.  Because of some birth defects she was born with she is likely to get infection in/around her throat/nose fairyly often.  Neither she nor I were happy to hear about that.

The other day I got some really pretty shower curtains in the mail.  Not something I would usually order but they are on clearence and the price is unbelieveable.  Regularly $29.95 marked down to $7.97, and the matching curtian rings were under $4.00.  Got them from the National Wildlife Catalog. (click here to see the shower curtains).

The happy little octopus here has nothing to do with entry.  I found a whale site I wanted to tell you about but I don't have a whale graphic so you get the cute little octopus instead.  Wailing Whales plays the sounds a whale makes.  It is beautiful yet lonely sounding.  They also show some pictures of the whales.

While fliping the tv trying to find something to watch I stopped on the Food Network as they had a candy story on.  There is this place in San Fransico called See's Candies, Inc.  They have a store right beside where they make the candy.  It looked so good! Check out their site, the candies aren't really all that expensive.  I may have to order some!

Still cleaning out my Aunt E's house.  It is taking forever.  I guess I just don't spend enough time in one chunk to get it done.  I just do a little here and a little there.  I was going to try to have a yard sale with some of the stuff but have about decided to just call the veterans or Salvation Army to come get the stuff.

Sophie (my kitten) has so much energy that I get tired just watching her!  I have got to get some pictures and post them of her.  She is black with brown eyes.  So cute.

Guess that's it for now.

Another death

I don't know what it is but it sure seems like J-land has had a lot of illness and deaths this summer.  I am guessing most of you already know but in case you don't -- Kat's (aka sunflowerkat) sister and nephew were killed in a car accident a few days ago.

Kat's journal is private but ondinemonet is letting everyone leave messages here at her place:  Ellipsis.  She also has links to newspaper articles about the accident.  Please go and leave a hug for Kat.

Another J-lander needs your love

I just read over at queenbigo's that StupidSheetGuy lost a friend this past weekend.  He appears to be taking it very badly.  Please drop over to his place and let him know that he isn't alone at a time like this.

Thanks everyone.

Kathy
