My day today

What a day.  Thank goodness it is finally friday.

Got up early because I wanted to go visit my Aunt Betty.  She lives 45 minutes to an hour from here.  She has got to be my favorite aunt.  Shhh....you aren't supposed to have favorites.

Aunt Betty and I went shopping.  She said she needed some clothes because she had gained weight and nothing fit anymore.  If you saw my aunt you would know how ridiculous that sounds.  I asked her if that meant she was up to a size small from an extra small.  She gave me this really mean look.  She tried on some sweat pants.  Yep.  Sure enough they were bigger than her pants at home. She bought 5 pairs of sweat pants.  Size: SMALL.  I could have laughed so hard but I was afraid she would hit me.  LOL  And she was complaining at how big the seat of the pants looked when she held them up.  I told her if she wanted to see a big rear end look at mine.  LOL  She just walked away.

After shopping we went to eat.  Great BBQ place.  We didn't have the BBQ but it is a great place.  If you order a hot dog there you will get a foot long dog.  That is the only size they have.  Anyways while we were eating this woman walks in wearing a white sweat shirt and white pants.  She was also wearing rabbit ears, painted on whiskers and a pink powder puff tail.  Oh yeah.  This 60 something year old woman was dressed up as a rabbit.  Then in comes this man.  60 something year old man.  Dressed up like a rabbit also.  Only difference was his "tail" was white and not the pink the woman was wearing.  LOL

When I left Aunt Betty's I called my mom to see if I had gotten a package there (I have packages mailed to my parents house because I don't want to have to worry about them growing legs and walking off from my house).  She told me that our city had been really busy while I was gone.

They had to evacuate the mall because people were getting sick.  Seems that someone sprayed something in the mall before it opened.  Don't know whatit was but the mall opened back up a few hours later.  First thing people asks is if it was terrorist or not.  They don't think so.  They may have the guy on one of the malls security tapes.

Me scared?  Heck no: Preview

The other thing was the court house had to be evacuated also.  They had a bomb threat called in.  That has been known to happen from time to time though.  I think that has to do with the nature of what goes on in the building.  They didn't find a bomb and workers got to go back in to work.

And how was your friday?

Got Brains?

Forgot to tell you guys this.  This is true.  I swear it is.

I had breakfast at this little diner that is close by.
They are one of the few places in town that still sells brains and eggs. (NO I don't eat that.  Turns my stomach just thinking about it.)

Didn't here what the customer actually said but I am guessing he said he wanted brains and eggs.

What I did here was Tim (the cook) say:

I don't have any brains.

But I have them ordered.

October 28 2003

This is a tough entry for me to make.  I wanted to make it on the 28th but have decided to do it now.

If you were reading my journal last year around this time you will remember that I had a beloved cat named Ashley.  She was a chubby, gray, loveable, 17 year old cat. (I had gotten her from my Uncle Joe when she was just a kitten) She had been sick and after tests were run I found out it was her kidneys.  After making a heart wrentching decision Dr B put her to sleep.  I still wonder though if I should have waited just a little bit longer.  Maybe that is why I am sitting here crying right now.

I really hated the little white box that came back with her remains after I had her creamated.  I promised Ashley (and myself) she would have something better as soon as I could afford it.  Coming up on a year and I still really didn't have the money but I went and took the money out of my savings and got the most beautiful urn-type thing I could find here in town.  I haven't had a chance to take a picture of it but if you will click here I found a site on the web with the exact same thing.  I got the right of the cat sitting up.

Here are some pictures of Ashley that I already had on my computer:

At Christmas:

She loved my ice tea:

Radio contest

I had not planned on making an entry
          today.  But something happened.
          Something good happened.  And I
am about to go crazy to tell someone.

I guess it won't be as great to you
as it is to me.  But lets pretend it is,
ok?  Ok.  Are you sitting down?

I won some money!  WOO HOO

Local radio station is having a contest.
To win all you have to do is be the
right number caller (107th) at the
right time (during a certain song).
If you are the correct number caller
you win $107.  And if you can tell
them what the song of the hour was
for the day before you win double.

             I didn't know yesterday's song.
But I took a guess.  And guess what.
Oh, yeah.  I got it right!!!!

So I am $214 richer than I was
when I rolled out of bed this
                   morning!

Tuesday

I am so tired.  Why you ask?
Well there are things around the
house that I have been wanting
to do but kept putting off.  Today
I decided that the carpet in my
bedroom HAS to come up.  Has
to.  It is really nasty and I can't
stand to look at it anymore.

               Why is it so nasty?
My cats!  I guess it is what the
carpet is made of but I can't get
stains from cat puke out it.  I
                have tried everything.  Finally
                gave up.  Carpets are coming
up.  Already have the carpet out
of the living room and hallway.

                   So I grabbed some
tools and started ripping up the
carpet.  I only have gotten half
                 the room up.  Why?  Several
                 reasons.  Main one is furniture.
I moved everything to one side
of the room and cut the carpet
down the middle.  Then I cut
that side into 3rds.  I would
rip up a 3rd then work on getting
the nail strip up and the staples
                from where they stapled down
                the padding.
By the time I got everything up
and made sure nothing was left
sticking up that could hurt the
kitties I was ready to call it a
                 day.

                 Tomorrow afternoon I plan on
                  moving everything and getting
the rest of the carpet up.  That
will leave carpet just in the
                  spare room (where the computer
                   bookcases, and cat box is).
Not sure when I will get around
to getting the carpet up in here.
I should do something with the
                   floor in the bedroom first.

Tomorrow I go for my mamogram
What about the rest of you
                     ladies?  This is breast cancer
                     awareness month.  Call and
                     make an appointment.  Men
urge the women in your life
                     to make an appointment.

                     Thanks to Stuart I have
found the site to go to
                     relive stress. Oh yeah.  Just
                     click on the blinkie here:

                       Hopefully the links in this
entry will open a new window
                       And Pamela look the blinkie
has no ugly frame around it.

Scary Sadie

Sorry that I haven't updated in.....a week?  Has it been that long?  Guess it has.

Sadie is doing ok.  Monday I had to take her back to the vet for a 2nd shot.  Most of the time when we go to the vet she will get out of the car there with no problem.  Not this time.  She wouldn't get out of the car.  So I pick her up and sit her in the parking lot (she is on a lease) and she heads for the car.  I try to carry her in.  She fights me the whole way.

I know that by the time we get in the exam room she is going to be really ill.  Sure enough, she sees Dr Mac (the one she seems to really hate) and tries to leave.  Dr Mac takes her tempature. (didn't we do that Sat?)  I don't have to tell you how Sadie felt about that do I?

Afterwards I sit Sadie in the floor and she makes a bee line to the waiting room and the door.  Poor baby.

Sadie loves riding in the car so I have been making an effort to get her out once or twice a week so she won't feel like "everytime I get in the car I go to the doctor".  Anyways there really aren't places that you can take a cat, so I go through drive-thrus and get a drink or something.

Never had a problem going thru the window at McDonalds.  Decided to go to Wendy's this time.  I order and pull around to the window to pay.  The girl starts to open the window and jumps back.
Preview
I say that it is just my cat. (Sadie is sitting on my shoulder) She won't hurt you.  The girl says I don't do cats.  Huh?  I am scared of them.  She went to get someone else to take my money!  I could not believe it.

Seeing that it is Breast Cancer Awareness month it seems only fitting that I send you to this entry in csandhollow's journal:

***oh how I hate that purple frame that come up around my graphic.  I didn't copy/paste the graphic I keyed in the code like a good little girl.  what happened?

ps just tried Pamela's fix for the frame around my graphic. works.  yeah.  sorry about the extra alert everyone.  but i learned something new and maybe you did too.  thanks Pamela (aka his1desire)

Saturday. Yea!

PreviewI had to take Sadie back to the vet today.  And she was not a happy camper about it.  She had been having quite a few spams with her esphogus and had cut way back in her eatting so I knew I would have to take her back.

Unfortunately Dr B was off today (and all of next week or I would have waited for him) so we had to see Dr Mac.  First thing she does is feel of Sadie's knees.  Ok, not what we went for, but I was told way back that Sadie had bad knees.  She doesn't seem to be having a problem with them so I ignore them for now.  By the time Dr Mac finishes with feeling of her knees Sadie is in a bad mood.  Dr Mac said I told you she had bad knees.  Right at that moment neither Sadie or I cared.

Next Dr wants to take Sadie's tempature. Sadie really wasn't in the mood for that.  I couldn't hold her still and Dr Mac was having problems so we had to get a tech to hold onto Sadie.  Sadie is meowing (something she never does) and acts like she could bite someone.

No fever.  I could have told her that.  Now Dr Mac looks at Sadie's chart to see what Dr B did last time we had this problem.  Shots, 3 of them for 3 days.

Now Dr Mac is like well if it worked last time I guess it is what we will do this time.  duh  Now she comes at Sadie with needles.  Can you guess the attitude Sadie has now?  If Dr Mac hadn't messed with her knees and took the temp givng the shots would have been easier.

Actually I don't think Sadie liked the fact that it wasn't Dr B taking care of her.  The second Dr Mac touched her Sadie was ready to go home.

We get the shots and go pay the bill.  $68.  Sadie is ready to leave.  I sit her down (she is on a lease mind you) and she practically runs towards the car.  By the time I pull into the drive way she lets out a meow and wants out of the car.  I have the lease on her so I open the door (while I am taking off my seat belt, etc...) Sadie jumps out and starts for the house.  I could not get out of the car fast enough for her or get the front door open fast enough.

Can't wait till Monday when we go back for another shot.  Hopefully Dr Mac won't play with her knees again, and will keep the themometer hidden.  Or Sadie might just tell her where she can put it.

Graphics for Vivian

I had thought about it and now that Trina of Reflections mentioned it in my comments I decided to run with it.  We will never be able to replace all the graphics Vivian has lost.  But we can get her off to a good start.

So my fellow J-landers go through your graphics, got some you want to share?  Oh, come on you know you do.  Round them up.  It may be better to wait until Vivian gets back on line, or you can go ahead and send them to her (or to me and I will pass them along)

This simple little thing is the least we can do for her.  Vivian has been great doing her birthday journal for us, without her there would not have been such a great 1 year AOL Journal anniversary.

So, past the word.  Post it in your journal.  Lets see just how many graphics we can get for Vivian.  Come on, dig deep, it isn't costing you anything.  Nope, not one penny.  Just the price of an email.  Oh, wait, it doesn't cost to send an email!

Kathy

Vivian needs our thoughts and prayers

Most of you know Vivian or have read her journal from time to time. (Click here to go read (listen) to today's entry) I just got a voice email from her which tells me a little more about her house being broken into.

PreviewYeah, you heard me right.  Someone broke into Vivian's house -- thankfully she and her son were not at home when it happened -- and stole quite a few things. Preview They took her jewerly, computer, her son's play station and the keyboard he got for Christmas.

I can tell by the comments left at her journal that many of you are thinking and praying for her.  I ask that you do one more thing.  Seeing as she doesn't have her computer she can't read all the love that is pouring out to her.  But she does have the phone AOL thingy and can call in an entry, and can listen to her email.  Would you please drop her an email to let her know you are thinking and praying for her and for her son?

I feel so sad for her son.  What is most important to him has been stolen.Preview Yes it can be replaced and I know Vivian is trying to figure that out now but you know how upset he must be.  My heart just goes out to him.

PreviewAnd one of the worst things for Vivian -- the one that was voted best use of graphics journal -- has lost all her graphics.  She kept them on a CD.  The CD she kept in the computer.  The computer that is now gone.

I have never been robbed so I don't know exactly how she feels but I would think other than losing your stuff you must feel strange knowing someone was in you home.  So please remember her and her son in your prayers.

Hopefully she will find a way to get back on line sooner rather than later.  But I know emails will help her feel the love coming from all of you.

Kathy

Rember the billboards that used to be around that were signed God?  I have some of those sayings made into graphics.  This is one of my favorites.  If you like it and want some more just click on it to go to my other place where I have them posted.  Grab all you want just leave a comment telling me you took them.

Fair Day

PreviewWent to the fair today.  Had a great time.  This is a picture of the cats I saw there.

There was a cat/dog show.  Cats doing tricks!!  Was great.  The picture is one that I bought.  You could have your picture taken with these great kitties for $5.  I didn't want to be in the picture but I had to have one of the cats.  I should have lightened it some because you can't see the black cat too well here.

I have never seen cats do tricks.  Well, ok every so often you see some on Animal Planet but it is totally different in person.  I am really impressed.  Have you ever tried to train a cat?  Chances are they trained you not the other way around.  LOL

Other than see the cats and dogs at the fair I bascially just walked around.  Oh, and ate.  You can't go to the fair without eatting.  Impossible.  I wanted to try the fried oreo cookies but I was starting to feel really full and didn't want to press my luck.  Who wants to get sick at the fair?

It is so hard to believe it is October already.  Last October my little Ashley (for those that don't know Ashley was my cat) died and the same week sweet Lucky (pet rabbit) died.  On the good side of things the vets think that Sadie must have been born around about October of last year.

Guess that is it for now.  I want to do an entry about October and the kitties but I'm not in the mood right now.

Nice Day

Today was a pretty good day.  Went out with
my dad for breakfast.  Spent some time with
mom.  The weather was just perfect.  It is
starting to cool down and I love this time of
                   year so it was great.

I took Sadie for a ride.  She loves (or at
least I think she does) riding in the car.
She is on me looking out the window.  Any
way, most of the time a car ride means
going to the vet and I don't want her to
always think car and vet go together,
so I am trying to make an effort to
take her for a ride more often.

Not too many places you can take a cat
so after driving around for a little bit
we went thru the McDonalds drive thru
for some ice tea.  Ok, so the tea was for
me, but Sadie loved the attention she got
from the people in the drive thru.

The fair is in town.  I love to go and just walk
around.  I haven't riden the rides in forever but
I still enjoy going.  Hopefully I will go tomorrow.
They have a new show this year with dogs and
cats.  Yep, cats.  I have to see what kind of
              tricks the cats can do.

What have I learned from my last entry?  First that maybe
.bmp files use more space than .jpg files.  That changing from
.bmp to .jpg is supposedly not harmful to the file.  Now will
I go and change all my files?  Gee, don't know.  I don't want
to take the chance of hurting something.  Maybe I will
experiment some.

Second thing I learned.  I went and bought some new CD's.
And yeah, I have that many graphics on my hard drive.  It
took 2 CD's to save everything.  Who would have thought?
I put all my Kathy tags on one CD and all the other graphics
on a 2nd CD.  (Gee, just hit me, I have backed up the word
files I have.  Rats.)

I have also learned that even though the CD's are rewrite-
able you can't just add to a folder already on the CD.  New
problem for me.  I thought I would put everything on CD
and delete what was on my hard drive.  But if I keep saving
tags and graphics then I will have them in different folders
and I will really confuse myself.

So, do I keep everything on hard drive (until I run out of
space) and just keep backing it up from time to time? Or
put everything on CD, delete what is on my hard drive and
then figure out how to merge the stuff later? (that is a
scary thought).  What do you guys do?

Finally had my drive into the mountains yesterday.  Well, sort
of.  I never made it into the mountains.  I got up to the
foothills though.  My mistake was stopping and doing some
shopping along the way, and then there was lunch at
Cracker Barrel.......But I had a great time.

The leaves aren't in full color right now anyway so I plan
on taking another trip when they hit peak (or near peak) color.

I highly recommed day trips.  It felt like a mini-vacation.
But I got there and back in one day so it didn't cost as much
as a real vacation.  But it was a great break.  Try it some-
time.

Forgot to tell you about this new little dance step I learned
Monday.

It was raining pretty hard so I made a mad dash to my car.
Half way to my car I look down.  Just in time NOT to step
in what a dog, a big dog, no -- a HUGE dog left behind in my
front yard.

I was happy that I missed it, but mad that it was there.  OK
I don't get mad when a dog gets lose and does that, but
it still irks me.

I did step into once.  I had a cast on one foot and was on
crutches.  I get in the house and keep smelling something.
I finally look at the foot wearing a shoe and there it was.
