A new email virus. Please Read.

If you receive an email entitled "Bedtimes" delete it IMMEDIATELY.   Do not  open it. Apparently this one is pretty nasty.

It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer.

It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards.

It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field  harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play.

It will program your phone auto dial to call only mobile/cel numbers.  This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.

IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING.

It will drink ALL your beer.  FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING??

It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company.

It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine.

If the "Bedtimes" message opened in a Windows 95/98/XP environment,

it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub.

It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will  also refill your skim milk with whole milk

WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN.

And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds, you'll fart so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person  nearest you.

Send this warning to everyone!!! THERE!'S A LOT OF SADNESS IN THE WORLD!  Right now, as you read this, 1 .7 Million people are having SEX!!! And look at you - you're on the computer!!!!

***ok well all know this one is a joke.  if you ever get anything in an email asking you to pass it on you can go to www.snopes.com to check to see if the information is true or just something that is going around.

2nd entry today

Ok everyone, I want you to do something for me.  Between now and Christmas keep track of how many catalogs you get in the mail.  Today I got 4.  Three of which I have never ordered from before.

I was going to try to keep track last year but it got so ridiculous I lost count.  This year I am going to TRY to keep track of how many and from who.  Lets see who gets the most and what is the most ridiculous catalog we get.

I have been sitting listening to the radio while I am on line for the past week or so, and have really listened to some of the songs.  For the most part I have been listening to a top 40 station.  I know that there are some really raunchy songs out there but I am shocked by something else.  I am so totally shocked at the songs -- really popular songs -- that are just degrading to women.

There are songs were the guy says he can have any woman he wants because of who he is, another where the guy thinks the girl is cute but if she won't then he will take her friend.  Another where if the man doesn't think she can cut it then he will put her on the streets.  There is even a song -- a female singer this time -- saying that she wants to get with him whenever he is in town and it is ok that he doesn't love her.

I would have thought that the young people that listen to this most of their time would be upset.  I would have hoped that girls would protest.  But I guess I am really wrong.

The message getting out for guys is well, get it and move on.  For girls it is you had better give it up or the guy will move on.  What is the world coming to?

I didn't know.

I thought about this for a few days and finally decided to share with everyone.  I didn't want to because I didn't want everyone to know just how computer illiterate I am.  But now I am thinking maybe there a few more like me out there somewhere, so maybe I should share.

If you knew this already you don't have to say "I could have told you so".  If you didn't know let me know so I don't feel so dumb.

I have a ton of graphics saved.  They for the most part save just fine.  But when I go to look at some of them my folder has these things in their places:

Preview  Preview  Preview

I finally asked someone in an MSN group and they wanted to know how I was saving things.  Huh?  I mean you right click hit save and be done with it.  Right?  Well I guess not.  For the most part the graphics I saved that showed these things were saved as .art.  And they should not have been.  So, to find out what I have saved and to re-save it correctly, I have had to do a lot of work.  For the first one up there I get no preview so I have had to copy/paste into a email then resave and make sure to change the .art to .bmp.  The second one up there will open into a different window so I open it and resave.  The third one wants to know what program to use to open it.  Great.  But I found for almost all I select can pick "select a program from a list" and then pick "internet explorer" and it will open.

After re-saveing and then deleted the old file.....and now I have saved some in the wrong folders and am hunting them down like a crazy person.  Go ahead laugh.  But even if you have been saving yours right I bet your folders aren't in perfect shape and you still have to hunt for something from time to time, right?  Please say right.

Update

PreviewTo catch you up to date, the insurance of the man that wasn't driving the car that went thru my parents fence -- yep, they are going to pay. They have to get an estimate of the cost but the insurance company assured them a check would be coming.

That insurance company is also paying for the next door neighbor's car that got hit.  And they are coming out way ahead.  The car wouldn't run before it got hit.  In fact they were hoping to sell it for $300 (yeah, for a car that had no transmission in it).  The insurance guy came out gave them a check for $1,100 and another $50 for a tow truck to get it off the concrete thingy that it was knocked over.  I may be crazy, but why would the insurance pay more for the car than the car is worth?

So, even though this was an unfortunate event -- my parents are getting the front part of their property fence replaced, and the neighbor is getting more than their car was worth.  The only bad thing is......hmmm.....oh, the bad thing is the mess the car that caused the damage is in and that someone who wasn't to blame insurance is going up.  Hey, but that is totally his fault.  He should not have taken the blame.  Crazy.

PS  I don't know about you guys, but I have a sort of image in my head about each one of you.  The woman in the graphic above is sort of what I picture SloMo to be like.  Slo--that is a compliment.

Has anyone noticed?

Short entry.

I have been surfing around J-land and noticed something different.  Something strange, but wonderful.  Anyone else notice?

I have seen some comments being left that have actual working links in them.  Yep, saw a couple where the commenter left a link to their journal -- and it showed up in blue so I clicked on it and wham, I am at their journal.

I love this feature though.  Am I the last one to know?

When did this happen?  Is it everywhere?  What is going on?  We got a new toy and no one told me?

What happened to the fence?

My dad called me early this morning.  When I answered the phone he says "good morning."  I am still asleep so I say "it is?".  Then our conversation goes something like this:

Dad:  We don't have a fence any more.
Me:   Huh?  What do you mean you don't have a fence anymore?
Dad: The one around the front yard is down.
Me:   Down? What happened?
Dad:  A car went through it.
Me:   WHAT?  (he has my attention now, the sleep be jerked out of me )
Dad: Around 5:30 this morning a car came crashing through the fence.

This is what happened:

A car coming down the street made a left turn (no street there) jumped the curb, knocked down the fence at the side of the yard kept going, sideswiped a tree in the front yard, kept going, knocked down the fence on the other side of the yard went through the driveway and stopped when it hit the fence between my parents house and their neighbors yard.  Oh, the fence didn't stop the car.  The car parked on the other side of the fence is what finally stopped it.

Then, (according to a neighbor that says he saw this) a woman got out of the car and ran up the street.  By this time my parents are awake and by the time they figure out what has happened the woman is back with 2 men.  One of the men says he was driving.

Police show up.  The man says he was driving.  And that is where his made up story starts to fall apart.  First he said he was having trouble with the starter.  (that would mean you couldn't start the car, not wreck it) Then he says he swerved to miss a kid standing on the side walk waiting for a school bus.  (first there are no school buses that early, and he would have had to hit the kid on the side walk because he came across the sidewalk).  The policeman knew he was lying and told the man he knew it.  But the guy stuck to his story.

My parents neighbor said that a woman was driving the car.  The men told him that he didn't know what he was talking about and to keep his blankety-blankety mouth shut.  So when the cops showed up the neighbor told them that he had been threatened.

PreviewOh, there were no skid marks.  In fact where the car first came into the yard there are no tire prints.  Should have been because of all the rain we had overnight.  That woman must have been flying and went airborne.

Another twist to the story.  The woman driving, she lives about 4 houses up from my parents.  (No, they didn't know each other.)

The police didn't give the man a ticket because they were convinced he wasn't driving.  I wonder if that will effect my parents getting their fence fixed by this person.
